Don's Old Daily Dabblings

Re: Don's D7000 Daily Dabblings

Got my new Nikonites.com shirt today in the mail. Perfect timing too. I put it on and went out shooting. I needed the break for everything I have had to do this week so this was perfect.
Here is a shot I took today along with the weather for those up north.

Re: Don's Construction Project

Great looking and thank you that we were witnesses from the beginning how your new addition got ready to use. A very interesting and wonderful thread.

Re: Don's Construction Project

I wish I had taken a before picture of the Kitchen. Old, tired dark cabinets. Formica counter tops and vinyl floors. It was a cave. total gut job. Still have to replace the lights but that is easy. Think I will wait till spring to start the next project. Stay tuned.

Finally getting back to shooting. Leg is to the point that I can walk a few blocks without it hurting or getting to tired. Shoulder is fine so no problems there. Still will be out of town some taking care of my Mom's estate business.

I finally got around to fine tuning my lenses on my D7000 this morning so I went downtown and shot a few just to see how I did.

Nice shots Don and good to hear the leg is mending well.
Be interested to know how you "fine tune" your lenses.

Unfortunately you can't with the D5100. I own the D5100 and the D7000. The D7000 has a way of changing the focus point forward or backward to get it just right. I never needed it with the D5100. Mine is sharp as a tack

Don. I really enjoy your photos - they are sharp and well composed.

However … (there is always a "but" :D) what I like the most is your eye for a good photo, from something that may seem ordinary to most. This is something I am trying to develop.

A couple from today

And this one is for @Roy1961

Love this! I want to develop a better eye for photographing buildings and structures. We have an historic area here, downtown Havana, with a lot of photo appeal but I do not like any photo I have ever taken of any of them.

This is downtown Prattville, AL. If you look at my photos you will see an old mill and a mill dam. It is just across from this Red Arrow Hardware store. The mill and dam were built in the 1850 and were still producing cotton gins till just a few years ago. It is about 5 minutes from my house so I use it to test any new equipment or technique I want to try out. Sort of a standard shot to judge thing by.
