Don's Old Daily Dabblings

Re: Don's Daily Dabblings

The local zoo is having a photo contest for their 2014 calendar. This is the one I am entering. Really had to think long and hard about entering it. This little baby was born at the zoo but died at about 3 or 4 months old. These were shot when it was about 6 weeks old.

Just an update on the Mother Rhino. She died a short time later. They have not found the cause of death yet. The Zoo has a great record with their animals and have had a high success rate with babies being born so everyone is very concerned.

Sad news. Lovely shot, one of my favorites so far on this forum.

It is one of my favorite photos also. The baby playing with his mother was so sweet. I watched that day for at least half an hour and shot probably 50 photos of it. Before I broke my leg I was at the zoo at least once or twice a week. I have a yearly membership and it is a great place to walk to get my exercise. You get to know some of the animals and get attached.

Re: Don's D7000 Daily Dabblings

My wife is singing with a church for their Christmas program and they were practicing tonight in the next town over. Being bored and tired of staying home all the time I went with her and carried my camera. I shot in and around the church while they sang. Here is one I like.

Re: Don's Construction Project

Have not had many updates recently since there had not been much that shows. Hopefully tomorrow there will be some real progress. But for today I will show you a long view of the room from the kitchen. Pardon the mess in the middle since we have no place to put things till the room is finished. The wallo in the middle was a large window that has been removed and will just be a open passage between the two rooms. It will be painted when finished

Re: Don's Construction Project

That tile is really nice!
Thank you. WE spent months trying to find just the right color tile to match the Granite in the kitchen. We used the 13 inch for the floor and the 6 inch for the backsplash. Since the addition is open to the kitchen we wanted to use the same tile in there. We ended up with about 600 square feet of this tile. Once it all get done I am going to rent a wide angle lens and get some 180 field of view shots of the kitchen and addition. I just have to figure out what lens and how to shoot without getting a lot of distortion.

And who gets to wash all those windows??

Just think of all the natural light for photography though. Morning sun comes in the back and only indirect light from the four windows on the side. I am sure the wife won't mind washing all those windows. (I hope she does not see this. I am running out of legs and arms)
