Don's Old Daily Dabblings

Re: Don's Construction Project

A couple more of the slab a all the concrete is in. Now have to wait a while for it to set up a little more and then trowel it smooth.

Re: Don's Construction Project

Well, No more updates on the project for a week. Out of town taking care of my Mom while my sister goes to visit her kids in Colorado. By the time I get back home they should have the shingles on. My daughter is supposed to shoot a few every day so I can see what they are doing so I may post a few of those.

I want to thank everyone for putting up with all the pictures. They are not that interesting BUT they have helped with my total boredom since I can't drive to go shoot anywhere. This has at least given me something to shoot. The leg is doing much better since the cast is off and the boot is on. I can walk some on it with a crutch so that gives me a lot more freedom. Still can't drive though.

Looks like there moving right along. Pretty good size room. It's funny how differant things are done in other parts of the country. Up here in NY we would have had to put frost wall in at 42" below grade. Nice not to have to go the extra measures.

Just foundation and it is 24inches thick and the slab is 4 inches. All of it is full of rebar. I checked a few days ago and the avg snowfall for my area I've 50 years is .4 inches per year. Not much need for a frost wall here

Re: Don's Construction Project

Since the removed the cast on Tuesday and put me in a walking boot I am able to get around with no walker or even crutches. It is nice to be a little more mobile now.

Re: Don's Construction Project

I loooove that huge window!
Congratulations on your building project, I wish it was me. And good to hear your leg are getting better.

That window is now gone and it will be an opening from the kitchen to the new addition. There is another window just like it just on the other side of the new addition that is in the family room and it is going away to and being made into a Double French Doors going to a new patio. Lots of fun.

The huge windows could come living here then :) The cost of something like that in this city..
