Don's Old Daily Dabblings

Re: Don's Daily Dabblings

love moms expression in the third shot. :)

I sat and watched them for 15 minutes or so. The baby is 6 weeks old and is very active. Crawling all over the mother and at one point she stood up and the baby went under water and under her and few for a while. Was pretty neat to watch them together.

I am at the Zoo. Playing with the 18-105 to see how it works in this setting.
Think I am going to like it. Pictures later today. View attachment 44990

A great shot. I personally think the 18-105 is an amazing lens. I've done a couple of comparisons with the 35 1.8g using tripod, controlled lighting, no change other than taking the 35 off, attaching the 18-105 and setting it at 35. 100 ISO, f8, 1/20, same WB. To my eye, same IQ. Not to belittle the 35 1.8's low light ability.

This shot was actually shot with my old D3100 and the 18-55 kit lens,

The next set was taken with the D5100 and the 18-105 lens. I really love shooting with this lens. I shot a flower at the zoo to see how it would handle it.

OK, The last one of the day. I am seeing this more and more lately and although it may take great pictures it just looks so very odd. Taking pictures with an iPad

I could not get my camera up fast enough to get him actually shooting.

Re: Don's Daily Dabblings

Cell phone and close second Ipads everywhere, and seldom a camera anymore.

When I was shooting the baby rhino today there were several people around and this little old lady had her old style phone out and was taking pictures with it. She asked me if I had a good shot so I turned the camera around and showed her a couple. She loved them. Then she said "I should give you my phone number so you can send those to me." I just kind of looked at her and turned the camera around and shower her the front of it. She said "Oh, that is not a phone. Is it?" Funny because a D5100 with a 18-105 with a hood on it is sort of large.

Actually I think they are based in Birmingham now. Not really sure.

If you are talking about Bass Pro Shop the main headquarters as far as I know is in Springfield Mo. It is very big and they have multiple buildings. I have gone up there to check it out two or three times when I vacation in Branson Mo. because it is only about 40 miles North and is a nice ride up there. They have a small shop in Branson but it is nothing like what is in Springfield.

No, Not Bass Pro Shop. What he is talking about is Ray Scott and the business he started a long time ago.

I looked up to see if Bass Pro Shop was headquartered in Springfield and it is. I do not hunt or fish but decided to look at their revues and found that just about all of them were One star and bad comments. This really surprised me.

I didn't know about Ray Scott.

We have a Bass Pro Store here in out small town and people come from all around to shop there. It is a great store. My wife even like to shop there for the clothes. That was pretty sharp of them to include a large women's section so it keeps them busy while the men can shop for important things like guns and ammo. It surprises me they would not get a good rating. The only problem I see with them is that they are a little expensive.
