Don's DJI Phantom 2 & 3 Fun

re: Don's DJI Phantom 2 & 3 Fun

Finally got a chance to go flying today. Spent most of my time learning how to fly and practicing going straight down a street between rows of houses. (Don't worry, there has not been a car on this street for a decade)

re: Don's DJI Phantom 2 & 3 Fun

I have been reading about the DJI tonight and came across INTELLIGENT ORIENTATION CONTROL This has to do with the position of the #2 switch on the controler. (The one on the left which make no sense at all) If I understand correctly it has to do with the way the controllers work. When reading the manual I seem to remember it saying always have both switches in the UP position. But what I was reading tonight seems to say that if you have the INTELLIGENT ORIENTATION CONTROL switch in the home or down position the control will change based on the orientation of the controller and not the Phantom. In the Up position you have to fly based on the drone and sometimes front is back and right is left. Can get a little confusing. If I am reading correctly with that switch in the home position up is always away from you and back is always to you and right is right and left is left.

Any ideas on this? Intelligent Orientation Controll

Next time I go out I am going to see what the effect is.

Without that, if you fly out, say, 200 feet and yaw the bird 90° to the left, if you want the bird to fly to YOUR left, you must tell it to go straight ahead. With this feature, if you tip the stick to your left, if will go to your left, regardless of the birds' orientation of front/back/left/right. It will fly to your front/back/left/right.
