Don's D750 Dabblings - 2016

Had a nice outing with a friend today. Went to Oak Mountain State Park just outside of Birmingham, AL. The park is amazing.

Saw this nice young couple sitting on the rocks just above the waterfall and asked if I could take their photo.

dam shot? Do they change the settings on the gates (higher/lower) or do they have them set to handle any river flow?
Street shot. Guess they gave the guy/gal who rolls up the street at nite a break since it was xmas. Nice shots both.

The original dam was built on the creek in the late 1840s to provide power to the factory that you see me shooting in and around all the time. It does have gates on top of each segment but at this time the dam is just historical since the water power has not been used since the mid 1900s when they fully transitioned to electricity.

The town used to be vacant by 6pm every night but we now have two restaurants downtown and some evenings it is hard to get a parking place anywhere close. This is small town Alabama though still. That is why I really like it here,

The way to take a selfie. Set up tripod with D750. Put speed light with Gary Fong on it. Use WiFi on phone to trigger camera and transfer to iPhone. Edit on phone and upload.

I see you bought yourself a Rokinon 14mm lens. The 14mm I sold you was a bit much ?:loyal:

Nice shots BTW

Finally felt good enough to go out shooting a little while this afternoon. Started off with the 24-120 on the camera and at a local park I say this.

Changed over to the Rokinon 14mm and saw these kids running around with their Grandmother. I really do like this image.

Got back in the truck and drove downtown. Normally I would have put the 24-120 back on but decided to put the 50-300 on instead. Got out and walked over to the creek and the first thing I saw was this. No time to change anything. Just threw up the camera and shot away. Was very overcast so pretty high ISO.
