Do you straighten your photos?

At first I thought that it was just my D5100. I have to straighten at least 75% of my photos. Since I moved up to a D7100, I'm finding the same thing. I don't use live view, so forget about the level in there. I line up to the grid in the viewfinder, and I still get pics skewed to the left (left if lower than the right) at least 2-3 degrees. No difference what lens I use. 18-140 or 35. Maybe I'm just to picky about it. Not sure. Anyone else have this happen?

Hi Steve,

I have to level a % of mine, not quite that high but enough! :) I am probably not picky enough as I have found after uploading here, I sometimes notice a skew and go back in and fix!

Spend more focus time on composition as in getting all in the photo..

Yes, sometimes the shots get straightened. Don't use the grid but will use the viewfinder frame if there is something to align with, then move the camera to take shot.

I use virtual horizon in the viewfinder in my D7100. My previous camera didn't have virtual horizon and a large fraction of shots were not level, despite me trying to do my best when taking the photo. In many situations you just don't see the real horizon, so making a photo straight by eye is quite difficult.

Since I started using the v.h. in D7100 it has improved significantly. Still, need to correct and occasional photo.

I agree Pat. I put much more thought into composition, and straightness is near the bottom of the priorities.

Not always.

I often use the indicators in the viewfinder to get it as straight as possible or activate the viewfinder level indicators in case of the D810. And even then I often have to correct landscapes in post.

Very seldom do I ever need to straighten a photo. I do make use of the perspective control for tilting buildings though.

The latest version of ACR has the best perspective control I have see to date. It works wonders. I shot this building from a low angle and it was not straight either and one click got it to be square and level. IT was the side of a brick building so it would have been easy to see if it were not perfect.

I straighten a photo if I feel it needs it, sure. Between the virtual horizon and the grid lines in the viewfinder, though, I can usually keep my shots level to begin with.

Unless I'm shooting on a tripod, I don't worry about getting it straight in-cam. Straightening is stupid-easy to do in post and is a much more efficient use of time.

mostly for the family formals of the weddings I shoot. no matter how straight you think you hold it, there is always a little ilt there. other than that no.
