On the EXIF data not showing at first. I usually check and if it doesn't, I usually get it to appear by just reloading the page. Another little glitch. Ha!

Followed this gull straight into the sun. If I blink, I can still see it.

This is #3 out of 4 dogs that I managed to capture in the window light. (Same dog that is in my avatar) I posted the others in the B&W thread.
This dog is afraid of his own shadow, and getting him to do anything is difficult. He is much better now than when we adopted him. When we first got him, he wouldn't walk down the sidewalk, and he would try to hide in the bushes. We made it 2 houses down the street on the first walk before we had to stop. He now loves walks.

What do you think about the expression on this one? I don't want all 4 portraits to look the same expression-wise.

no exif data in the first two, the 3rd has last years Carolyn.

OK, Thanks.
I corrected it. It seems that when I use "export" I may be forgetting to include the data. When I just "save as" it automatically includes the data.

The last 2 images were taken previously. I just posted them for comparison. I tried to get the cocker spaniel in a different position today, but she wouldn't cooperate.

Such texture in all of your doggie pics!
Is it something that you are doing in PP, or is it just the monochrome?

I have been considering a D300 for it's focus motor and pentaprism viewfinder.

edit: And two dials!!!

Thank you very much. I think it is a combination of a good lens and mild sharpening in pp. The D300 has an OLP filter, which tends to soften the images a tad so a little pp sharpening is necessary.

The D300 is a great portrait camera, and it is well built. It has been surpassed, though, by later models regarding high ISO performance. It does have 4 memory banks in it so it is flexible. I have a D80 as well. The viewfinder on the D300 is much better. I can't say anything bad about the D300. The only thing is if you really want to chase birds in flight then you might consider a later model for the cleaner high ISO performance.

I was considering the D300 because it is a bit outdated, and therefore more affordable.
I had a D610 briefly, before I lost my job, and that viewfinder was THE BEST!

BTW, I am typing this at my new job! And I am allowed to! :D

I looked at the D300 for the same reasons. It is a lot of camera and can be had for a good price these days. Great camera. It has live view as well, which is helpful.
Congrats on the new job.

Not a new subject. I tend to shoot at the sunset from my front yard for practice.
I used this image to play with post processing.

Decided to reduce the noise in Lightroom. I still don't like it. Time to move on.

Gray, nasty day today. I only had some bad squirrel images then I looked up and saw this staring at me. Also, this is a good opportunity for me to practice bounce flash. Yet another thing I couldn't do last year. I would have liked his eyes to show more, but I will take what I can get for today.

With bounce flash use the little white card that you pull out from your speedlight that will force some light forwards creating catch lights in the eyes and illuminating them some what.

I don't own one, so this is the first I had heard of such a card!

I had a (non)hotshoe flash for my non-hotshoe SRT101 film camera back when, but since things have gone digital, there is SO MUCH to learn!

The flash head swivels side to side! That is another new one on me. :)
