For what it is worth, I upgraded from my 10+ year old D200 to a D7200 and could not be happier. The transition from D200 to D7200 was pretty easy, so should be true also from your D300. The only real advantage of the D500 is for action/sports photography and judging from your photos, you don't really need the specialized D500 for almost twice the money.

what are you planning to get??

I am not sure what I am going to land on yet. I am considering the D7200 and the D500. I even looked at the D7100 since it is so inexpensive, but I probably would use it as a back-up or something to carry in the car.

I like the tilt screen feature, and I really like the backlit buttons on the D500. No, I don't do a lot of action, but I do like low light and bird photography. I dunno, I can get a camera and a top-notch lens right now if I choose the D7200. If I wait a little longer, I can get a great lens and a D500 plus a small flash. The expense of the cards is a consideration as well.

Thanks for the advice @Bikerbrent

I am not in a huge hurry here. If I get asked to work a few more days, then I will be I real good shape.

I rarely use the 50mm, so I thought I would play with it in the dark. I am sure y'all recognize my street by now.

Yes, that is the full-frame contender. What made you decide on the D500 opposed to the D750?
Are you happy with your decision?

yes happy with it, at the end of the day it was the extra reach with the DX, as you know I kinda shoot a lot of birds. lol

Attempt at composed product shot. Should have increased the DOF. Unless you think the fuzzy amber glass makes it look artsy, then I did it on purpose.
I did some selective color to correct a yellow-cast on the black fabric. Created a layer, made it B&W and masked out the off color on the lit part of the fabric. I guess I could have cloned out the shadows. Just thought of that.

It's always fun to look at your thread because I know I'll see dogs. And, I like dogs more than most people! :)

Yesterday, I purchased a new feeder to hold mealworms. The wrens discovered it today. Maybe they will tell their friends.
