Thanks a bunch.
After dealing with the new lens and trying to shoot birds, I am leaning toward the D500. Haven't quite decided, though. I plan on going to the store to look at the cameras. With my vision issues, those back-lit buttons along with the fast focusing capability make it pretty hard to pass up.
Of course, buying the lens will eat into my camera and accessory savings, but I am still earning some money to go into the pot to help make up for it.
That would be a good choice. The D500 is amazing. I have been using the D7200 for the Birds and sport stuff for the reach. But I have fallen in love wit the D700 for most everything else. It's a nice camera.

I am sure I would love either a D500 or D750, which makes for a tough choice. I just keep thinking "back-lit buttons."
That feature would help me a lot since I tend to be a creature of the night with poor vision.

There was a discussion in another thread regarding a Nikkor 50mm lens, so I pulled mine out. I rarely use this lens.

Test shot in the living room. Sharpened some. Some noise reduction as well. Too shallow DOF. Oops.

Rainy day. Couldn't get out much, so here is a quick test shot on a rainy day.

The EXIF date is incorrect. I set my camera, but apparently did something wrong.

Looking for some beauty on my own street.

EXIF date is incorrect. I have changed the date twice on my camera, but for some reason it is still a day off.

Congrats on the new camera. :encouragement:

Thank you. I have a lot to learn with all of the focus points. I just went back and looked at the first images of that car. I had 4 focus points, and the license plate was dead center in the first one. I moved over to the side for the second. Just need more practice is all. Any tips for using matrix metering are appreciated.

Uninteresting image of my neighbor's car. This was strictly a practice shot using spot metering and adjusting for the white of the car.
This image has only been resized.
The date is off. I don't know what I did wrong unless I screwed up the time when I was setting the camera date and time.

Tried to catch some lightning, but the only good strike I saw was before I got out the camera. Go figure.
What I did learn is that the D500 can handle 30 second exposures consecutively. I didn't have to wait to actuate. (Yeah, you saw what I did there. ;) )

Once again, wrong date. I just corrected it in the camera----again.

I have images to post for the last week because I needed to decide on editing software. Well, I landed on Affinity due to the low cost. I downloaded it, edited a few images for a friend and then went and laid down because I was feeling so bad. This was after my husband asked if I took a photo. I said, "no' then went and laid down. Then forgot to shoot an image.
I was barely functional yesterday. Combination of health issues and exhausted from a 10 hour day.
I should have picked up the camera as soon as I was reminded. I just wasn't thinking straight.

I will continue to post, but I am out of the running for the year. :shame:
