So I'm looking into camera lens rentals. As a college student I will have trouble forking over even $30-$45 to use on a lens I cannot keep, but I think it will be the right thing to do. Test out a couple of the recommended telephoto lenses as well as a couple of the macro/micro lenses.

Can ya'll help me narrow down my choices?

For a macro/micro, I obviously want to shoot macro shots. Animals, bugs, plants etc...
I think for renting I should try out the
[h=1]Nikon 105mm f/2.8G AF-S VR IF-ED Micro[/h]and the [h=1]Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di SP Macro for Nikon[/h]
Then I'd like to get a telephoto lens also. I would be using this for taking nice photos of wildlife that I cannot get close enough to, or photo opportunities that could not be reached with a smaller zoom lens.

I'm considering the

[h=1]Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S IF-ED VR[/h]
and I'm not sure what else. Any suggestions of what I should look at?

What's the point of turning VR off? Mine was on.
