The sun and I were not getting along today. I got to get out this morning and this evening. I liked the clouds this morning. And we had a pretty clear sky tonight.

Today a mix of architecture... between Lexington and Lawrenceburg... maybe a little history too.

Caught the moon setting first this morning.

Than my wife Pat and I went to Lexington to see Mom. We stopped at the Castle and got a shot. This Castle was started back when I was in High School. In the 50s and 60s IBM came to Lexington and bought up property all over the city one guy got a bit more money than he should have and his wife talked him into building the castle... or so the story goes. he went broke and she left him and it sat half done for a long time making it a good place for High School kids to get into. Now it is finished and rented for parties.

Today is a mixed bag. I had to run some errands and it was kind of gloomy. I went down Broadway and at the end is the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Healing Field. It is a memorial dedicated to all Kentucky military lost in the current conflict. Lawrenceburg is a patriotic little town. My club in raised $1800 dollars for the memorial in two 1/2 days collecting money at the local Grocery and Walmart. I remember this one little girl in a beater of a car with three kids and clearly no money emptying her ashtray change in my bucket. I am still amazed. More flags than I would like to see. The most ironic... it is right across the street from the High School...

The third pic is that shed with the 2 door 57. The light was better. Still learning HDR, but it helped me get the car without completely blowing out everything else. See those cars were what I tore up the highways with... them or motorcycles. Kids around here 4 wheel drive pickups... making noise. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Today was my 25th wedding anniversary! My wife and I reenacted our first date and than just spent the day together. I do not have the stamina anymore, but it was a great day. Pat is my best friend... and love of my life. Now more than ever. I did not get a picture of her today, but the restaurant were we had our first date. Columbia's Steak House... it has been in Lexington, Ky forever. Amazing place with with good food from Lamb Fries to Hot Brown to a Night Hawk Special named after a radio celebrity in the 60's... We had the special for lunch and than just had a blessed day!

If you are going... what are Lamb Fries... You will have to google that... Hot Brown... Great, but definitively a heart attach on a plate... The Special Sirloin steak in garlic butter with a baked potato and a side salad. The special use to be $5.90 cause that was they AM Radio station that sponsored it. They would line up around the block to get it.

Without Googling, I bet Lamb Fries are similar to Turkey Fries (Atascadaro, CA) or Rocky Mountain Oysters in cowboy country. Ha! Never had Lamb Fries, but the other two are pretty good. Ha!

The last couple years I just have not been able to do it with all the health issues, @mikew, so yesterday was very nice. It is not the same location... It was a really good day, and we both needed it. Thanks

Yep Walt, that is pretty much it... served with a white gravy. They are pretty good, but have not had them in a long time.... lol

I'll just have to take your word for it.
I won't be breaking the all-you-can-eat Lamb Fries record any time soon.:shame:

I will have to say the hot brown is better- "country ham, turkey, bacon, cream sauce, 2 tomato slices and cheese. Hence heartattach on a plate" nickname.

Got out a little in the morning yesterday, and a little on the way to church. Just a less energy kind of day. But I endeavor to persevere...

There are a lot of old farms around Anderson county. My house is built around a log cabin. I came across this one and I like the stone wall that paralleled the drive.

This is the remnants of a stone furnace at the Four Roses Distillery. We have a few around Anderson. Wild Turkey is just over the hill and when the fog on the river is thick you can smell it by the house. They have a Bourbon Trail that is pretty cool if you like bourbon. It is a good little day trip thru about 4 counties.

55 Degrees and a gentle sunset. But winter will be back.

I am having a less than stellar day today. Just part of the pageantry associated with a little dain bramage  and the weather decided not to help matters... but I wanted to shoot something so I went to the safe and put together something a little different. The belt was handmade by a friend, but it has shrunk a little and I need to get a leather stretcher... the sheath is hand made by him too and real snake skin... to quote my wife... it is the only kind of good snake, but we agree to disagree...
