D40 vs D200

D200 is not one of those cameras that is good to go out of the box.
Nikon v1 or a nikon d3200 are out of the box type camera.
D200 is a camera you can learn advanced photography on if thats what you want to do. If not, stay with your d40 and get better lenses, or upgrade to a d3200/d5200 with kit lens and go out and shoot pictures.

Good choice from what I've heard you say you needed. You'll be amazed at the pictures that little camera takes

..... Don't want a lot of settings. If that's the way a D200 works, that's what I want.

Then the D200 is not for you. Stick with your D40, or like the others say, upgrade to a D3200 or higher.

Another thing to consider Nikon is not repairing D200s anymore nor the D70.D2x etc. A person would have to find an independent camera repair shop.
