Here's one of my favourite D300s shots. Simple 2 light set up, one main soft box 4ft above the model 3ft to her left and a low power head with blue gel and silver brolly 3 feet to her right, standing slightly lower than the main. Reflector thrown in just to bring out the sequins in her dress and soften shadows.

Absolutely. And with studio heads it's all about steep diagonals. Check out the below and then underneath a behind the scenes of the lighting set up...2 little Interfits, that's all. It's just where you put them, and yourself. (Forgive the models rather rude gesture in the bts snap...)
