The Sparrows saved me today. I have carried the 200-500mm lens for the last two days hoping to get a shot of the Kestrel that has been hanging around without having to crop the heck out of it. Today lugging that heavy lens around, all I saw was some sparrows in a dreary atmosphere. Blah.

A Red-tailed Hawk
It was sitting on a pole between the sun and myself. Not good for a photo. Then it decided to fly toward me and gave me the opportunity for a couple of shots.

I walked out again this morning with the 70-300 instead of the 200-500 lens because it was overcast and I figured there wouldn't be much to shoot. And then on two different occasions, I found the American Kestrel that seems to only show himself when I have the 70-300mm.
And this one had the best light, but was heading away. Boo!

They look good. At least you weren't so desperate you shot low-light green bell pepper seeds.

Awesome photos keep up the great work.
I did get a picture of that Kestrel again, flying from the same pole. It was pretty good except flying away so I didn't post it. Also some crow stuff. I just can't get the detail on crows like some have done. I think I hate crows.. Ha!

crows are tough Walt, its ok if they are against a clear background, but that doesnt happen to often.

This was an accident. I was playing with OCF. I got a phone call and as I answered it, the remote shutter release cable triggered the camera uncontrollably (Bad connection). As I tried to shut it down, with the OCF in my hand, this was one of the resulting shots. Ha!
