Where? There have been several reports in south OC of a few rarely seen blackpoll warblers. They have the yellow chest with muddy brown streaks like this in summer

San Jacinto, people are saying Blackburnian or pine, i cant get by a juvie female hermit according to pics in one of my books.

I have now been feeding my aviary friends for over a year now; to which I can name without trouble most of the time.

However, a week ago as I was coming back from an errand, I parked and as I walk toward our walkway, there was this guy having brunch to what I think it was a gold finch as he left a few of its feathers. I was surprised that it wasn't until my son got within feet of him (he did not stop fast enough) that he actually took flight.

Also, I have never actually realized, that as with African water holes, I've created an oasis for these predators. Today, this guy came chasing into-inside a bush perhaps a sparrow or something small; this time the little friend got away. But what a magnificent bird this is. Not sure what kind of Hawk this is. Anyone?

Juvenile Cooper's. They love diving into bushes for small birds at that age. They aren't very successful, in my experience.

Thanks. I was caught by surprise to witness that too. Perhaps it was not a very pleasant experience for him as he chose a very thorny bush for that chase. He actually took a few seconds to come out of it. No wonder those little Sparrows love those thorny bushes.

I thought this was a fledgling robin, but the beak's wrong and it's about the size of a small sparrow. The second (they were feeding together) appears a bit older and has a strong white eye ring. I feel like I've seen it before, but can't pull it up.
