I'm as cool as a cucumber. His simple question was leading to something; therefore, i answered accordingly. Simple.

I think this is how misunderstandings start. What you are guessing that some one means, may not really be what she/he means. Double guessing (I know what you mean when you say that you know what I mean .......) usually is the root cause of major flare ups. I have experienced people jumping from A to E, without going through B and C and D. Fine if two minds are tuned to each other, but for most, the steps B,C,D are needed.

Having feet in two Manufacturers now, I really wish Jdeg would start a site for all brands (It could be called a "Photography Forum"). We could all live together with our diversity :). With Nikon now being my secondary system, I'm becoming torn :(

I thought the ratio of annoying people on this site is extremely low compared to plenty of other sites I've been on. Only one or two users stand out in my mind as problems; most people here have been extremely helpful.

Although i would support a "photography forum" i do like the fact this is a Nikon forum,i do belong two Photography Forums but only use them because this site goes so quiet in what is my daytime.

Is this a rhetorical question? I ask because it's quite obvious that i don't. On another note, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Cameras are just sophisticated light boxes with a load of commodities stuffed into them. Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Olympus.... Who cares. They all do the same thing and that is, take photos. I suppose if i read between the lines, you are telling me that this is a Nikon forum. Yes, i know that being here longer then you. Don't forget that there is a non-Nikon camera section of the forum. If you don't like non-Nikon owners expressing their opinion, speak to Jdeg to get rid of the non-Nikon section or go join Gorf.

Here's a response that can be taken in a couple different ways. The response of 'simple' can either mean easy or it can mean not complex. My initial understanding of this comment was not complex; therefore, the thought that went through my head was a simple response would have been either yes or no. So my initial impression was that your comment was an arrogant response because it was anything but simple; however, after reading your comments a couple of times, I realized perhaps your comment of simple simply meant easy . :surprise: Simple, yes?!! :highly_amused: But see how easy it is to misinterpret what someone else is thinking?

Cant believe we have had 66 posts (so far) following someone leaving the site.
IMHO this thread is going downhill - go take some photos.

I think he is still lurking. I got an alert a couple of days ago that he clicked "Disagree" on a post I made on his first "Goodbye Cruel World!!" back on 4 April 2013

It is always sad to see a fellow forum member leave or just disappear from the forum altogether. I have always felt comfortable here, among friends with like interests.
Too bad the fellow leaving did not give the site a chance to iron out the issue(s).

Without hitting the "disagree" button I have to say I would prefer not to have this as anything but a Nikon forum.

My reason are simple - and because I am simple, I will keep this simple! (for an explanation on "Simple" see previous threads)

There is so much to learn (for simple me) on Nikon cameras that I fear an all purpose photography forum will be dominated by owners of other models according to the same or similar ratio of brand sales.
I accept that each brand could have its own little corner but I like things SIMPLE!
I would miss some of the really cool threads and that's not so cool.

Once the "newness" of the Olympus is worn off, you will come back "into the light". However if you must stray from the fold, there is always MyOlympus.org - The Photographic Community for Users of Olympus C4000-8080, E-series DSLRs and micro 4/3 Digital Cameras

Please re-read my post.

What I meant was an entirely new, separate site. In addition to this site, not replacing it. This is a great crowd and a great format, I'd like to see a site that has these qualities but embraces all manufactures equally. I did not mean this site becoming something else.

I've struggled with this as I now have to go to another site to get advice from Oly users (experts). I think it would be a great business model as it would attract all users, not just Nikon (larger member base).

I'm kinda getting bored with this brand vs. that.

I'm sorry that gorf left. I wish him the best and hope one day he'll return (even if it takes him another 35 years!). Good luck gorf, and there's a lot to learn from this forum!

You have been a part of Nikonites for a long time and made great contributions.
But ...the clue is in the name - this is a site for Nikon users with some threads for other manufacturers.

If you want another site for different manufacturers then why not PM @jdeg rather than broadcast your wishes to everyone.
If you have moved on from Nikon fine there are lots of other sites out there.
I for one am a happy Nikon user and don't want to see this site fragment.
If you can create a user community as positive as this place then great, go for it.
Just saying.

Sorry to see you go Gorf, it was interesting to follow your journey back into photography. It's just a pity you couldn't shed some light on your reasoning as maybe it could have been resolved and we didn't need to lose a valuable contributor. Good luck in wherever your photography takes you.

Couldn't agree more.
It's never pleasant when peeps leave under a dark cloud that may not even be a cloud anyway.
Hope he finds a forum that he is more comfortable in - if that is what he wants.

Wow, I left this thread 2 days ago and it's still going.

I have no idea what' been said since, or why, but let me just say that trying to drill down into why someone walks is only going to cause someone else to walk. Gorf was a decent guy, and like all of us had certain things that stuck more than others.

Ours is not always to question why. There are many times I've walked and should have stayed that way. If he's meant to come back, he'll be back.

And my apologies if this flies in the face of 40+ posts since my last visit.
