OK here she is using a tripod and timer, using my 105mm full manual settings. Thank you my friends for your helping this newbie improve on his attempts at photography! :D

STUNNING CAPTURE! Now that's a photograph. Sharp and great color capture.

Though tempted to quit while I was ahead(lol just kidding), here is another kitty who sat still just long enough to get a shot! Lol :)

Here is the green spider's potential mate and he didn't want his photo taken. So he turned his back to me in protest I think! Lol :D

Great shot. Spiders are fun to shoot. I like to get a shot like this and using a spray bottle of water and putting a fine mist on the web and shooting it. Get your shot before you try that though.

Nice shots Bill.. can already see improved shots in the few pages you've posted
best way to learn is to post regualrly & a daily thread is the best way to do it...

a couple of suggestions if i may-

a) regarding macro shots, it's better to set the focus and then move your camera forward/backwards till you get the best shot. This works better than trying to adjust focus...
b) usually better to underexpose close up shots (just by 1/3 stop) so the details are captured well.
if you shoot raw, the opportunity to expose the entire image is available
c) it's best to shoot the subject full bodied than to cut off arms, legs ;)

good luck!

Sounds like you mean a rail? I want to get one, as soon as I have the money. :)

I'm sorry I'm unsure what you mean. A smaller f stop, and slower shutter speed?

I can't shoot raw, because my xoom won't recognize them and won't let me download the photos.

That I'm learning for sure! Lol :D

Thank you for the tips my friend! :D I sure appreciate it! :D

Here is a few shots I got today! :D

I took these with a pn-11 extension tube and my 200mm lens, except for the flower. I used my 105mm for that. :)

This fly just loves figs, and was looking for a really ripe one!

I don't see either the tripod or the timer this spider is supposed to be using.

I don't believe that spider is using anything! I think it's just sitting there!

Bill,If you want the spider to turn around, you have to move a hat or something in front of it.Spider see's the movement and turns away from it,giving you the shot, face on.Works for me.:D Good shooting.
