The news reported Turkey as their country of origin and then changed to Chechen. So, labeling these terrorists as "Turkish" may be incorrect. There may have been a mix up with the US embassy bombing in Ankara, Turkey, by a Turkish islamist. I guess it's getting too easy to get confused with these murderers. I guess the key general term should be islamists. I'm fine with that.
And one correction in your statement, Dave..... Do you think the perpetrators of these bombings are from Turkey?? Fortunately, in one case, we can change the tense from "are" to "was".

No, these guys were not from Turkey. They're were from Chechnya and had affiliations with extremists in Dagestan. Both areas are former USSR countries and are VERY different from Turkey.

Actually it is not southern Russia...the Russians are no longer our enemies tsk tsk...the bombers hail from the Caucasus region...
The Russians had a tap on the guys we ignored them (or maybe we didn't

I would wager we'll see more of this kind of insanity in the future. Hopefully the radicals will evolve to be more like the IRA and start hitting on things to try and jolt the economy as opposed to just killing people...surely they will never be as effective as our politicians...

What strikes me the most about the photos is how many people, ordinary citizens, ran to the blast to help the victims. No one in pain was alone.
Reminds me of a line from the movie, "Starman:" " . . . you are an interesting species, capable of such horror . . . you are at your best when things are at their worst." (. . . . something like that!)

I've heard it all now. You hope to have an IRA like organisation fighting for their cause in the US. Boston was by way of example like the IRA Enniskillen bombing. I assume it will also be Ok if they are funded by lots of well wishers in bars in a foreign country as well? Ironically where was one of the big US bases of IRA supporters?

The pictures are indeed great, showing so much courage by not only those that came to aid the fallen, but by those injured by these terrible acts too.
With regards to the IRA and Boston, it was only post these terrible events I came to learn about the strong link between the two, and even though I have lived through the whole IRA mainland terror campaigns, I was never aware of the link!

You British guys will likely know more than me but I think the IRA has had the patent on bombing types of terrorism for a long long time now and I bet they taught the radical islamists everything they know...

So the thing that fascinates me is I wonder what the average Englishmen thinks when he reads the newspaper and hears of something like Boston or the twin towers? I understand he would not condone it in shape form or fashion but it must bring to his mind other sorts of thoughts (perhaps maybe just what the hell is the world coming too) Maybe Americans could learn a thing or two from you all.
I think one of the crucial differences between the IRA and islamic terrorism is that is a whole lot harder if not impossible for the English to retaliate by bombing their cousins to death but man o man look at what happened when Osama did his thing. We are still bombing the heck out of folks to this day years and years later and they still seem stronger than ever or at least maybe effective as ever.
