An abandoned barn that recently found new purpose as shelter for a needy soul.

This is an old abandoned barn that sits just outside of where I grew up. It hasn't been used in over a decade. I've driven by it countless times without thinking twice about it. Recently I took a trip back home to visit friends and family. As I drove by the barn I decided I was finally going to go check it out. I was amazed at how much work it must have taken to build all the fences that surrounded the property. Someone's hands cut these logs, stacked them, wired them, and nailed them into place. Now it just sits in a small field, where thousands of people drive by on the local highway, yet it remains mostly forgotten about. However, one weary soul had recently been using it as shelter. Inside the door there were blankets, empty food and water containers laying on the ground. Some reading material for entertainment and a dirty pillow. I'm sure the barn was happy to have reason for standing and I can only imagine how thankful the person living in it was to have some shelter during the winter.

I decided to include a Black and White processed photo from the same shoot. This time I made my girlfriend step in front of the camera. She hates having her picture taken, but I finally coaxed her into it. haha.

Nice ....

Interestingly enough when I sat down to process this photo I had full intent on doing a B&W photo. However, after seeing the colors of the sky and wood, the color version just seemed so much more interesting to look at :)

Very nicely done! Excellent HDR processing.

You DID take more photos from different angles and the inside as well with close-ups of the woodwork? I ask this because your writing leans toward a "photo story" with a developing body of work. If you don't have your own blog yet, you should! Reading your post makes me want to see more photos!

I actually do have a blog, however I've been so busy over the last few months I haven't had time to update it. However, I plan on doing that very soon! I would love to have you check it out. Taste Of Jace

Mmmm...breathtaking! :)

I am on the fence about a wide angle lens, and this is one that was suggested to me. Sure does an awesome job!
