Drove it in the snow on Monday. It now has that wonderful salt gray two tone look. :p

When I got my Nissan Patrol (AUD$60,000) I took it out and went 4wding, scratched the paint a bit and got it dirty. 1st service (1000km) they were shocked that it was in a state and said the paint was stuffed. I just said I use it for what I got it for and the scratches would buff out (which they did). Its my go anywhere car and that's what I use it for :)

Back in my younger days (the 70's) I had an International Scout 4x4 that I took stump jumping all the time. It was always covered with mud, scratches, and misc bumps and bruises. That's what I had it for and just called them battle scars. Put over 150000 miles on it before it got tired. At least it went to the great scrapyard in the sky having fulfilled it purpose in life.

Got this shot of a Horned Lark out the window of the car on the way to the office this morning. With the sun shining on the snow it was not a great shot.

Last year at this time there were about 40,000 Snow Geese and 5000 Tundra Swans at the lake. This is the report from this morning. Dear Canada, we will keep Justin Bieber if you take the cold back......

Snow geese: 3,000?
Swans: 1,000
Canada geese: not many

No significant change upwards as of this morning. Weather forecasts are calling for more seasonable temperatures, but it’s going to take awhile to thaw this place out, there’s 16” of ice on the lake.

The interior road system remains closed, it’s impassable, we’ll have to wait for that to melt off as well.

Sorry to disagree but I can turn him off and the cops can continue to arrest him...I can't do either of those with the cold and snow and these old bones are tired and sore!!!!!

good to see you posting again Alan, spring is coming

Thanks Roy. Life and work have been crazy lately. It was 45 here today so hopefully you are right and spring will show up soon. But there is over 2 foot of ice on the lake those guys were fishing on. It will take a while to make that go away.

There were some Cedar Waxwings in the neighbors tree, hopefully a harbinger of spring. But it was 30 this morning 15 degrees below normal.
