Again -- Tam 150-600

Well, the new Tam is boxed up for a trip back east. For the last week I have been seeing the same symptoms as before: sticking aperture, focus hunting and lockups, soft images, etc.
I broached the idea of a trade in + cash for the new version and they did not sound adverse to the idea -- pretty sure they want to see the last of me.

My wife says I've pissed off the gods and they're just taking revenge.
She's right. The Great Hummer in the Sky feels you are violating the privacy of his children. You certainly would not want someone trying to photograph you all the time.

Hopefully the new version corrects the challenges you've seen. I wonder if we're about to see a flood of 1st generation lenses on the used market with people moving to the G2...

This leads perfectly to the question I logged on to ask today! Lol. There are suddenly several non G2 150-600 Tamrons on Craig's List and they all want around $700 for them. Yes? No? Save longer for the G2?

I decided to wait a few days before shipping as all the Tam folks are at the NYC show. I took it to the Arb and the lake for a careful test to see on which side of the camera the problem lies. I tried good light, bad light, static shots, and action, near and far. I shot on both the d500 and the two 5300s, all on a tripod. I got 30 or 40 good pictures each day, but I was having to shoot 300 to 400 to get there. If its me, then I'm hopeless and need to take up knitting, but I don't think it is, so off it went today. I report back as soon as I hear something.

Get a Nikon 200-500 mm and be done with it. (or at least research it)

I have researched all of the above, but none are currently available on Craig's List for $700 or less. I have a kid in college, so every penny counts!
