Had to send it in to have it checked out. Focus issues and focus ring issues. Hoping this does not cost me a fortune. I sent it to KEH. Anyone else ever had to send this lens in for work?
Hey Whiskeyman, if your interested in buying a used lense. Mine is for sale for the right price. Its in excellent condition other than the zoom ring issue which has been like that since I bought it used.
I was reviewing all of this, and I have to say I am rather upset that KEH one, does not list on their site that they cannot address soft focus issues, had I known that I would not have spent $65 to ship it to you. Now I will have to spend the same amount to ship it to Nikon when I get it back. Secondly, KEH had the lens for two weeks I believe it was, and I am the one that has to follow up with an email to find out that the lens issues cannot be addressed there. Third, I get told that shipping only happens in the morning and now if I want my lens shipped back to me it’s another day of waiting.
I would like my lens shipped back to me immediately, and I would appreciate it shipped back next day air. I think that’s the least that can be done. This whole issue could have been avoided with the proper information provided to your customers up front. Had I shipped to Nikon directly, I could have already had a quote for repairs. I sent my lens to KEH since I had heard great things and a fellow photographer sent his lens to you last year and it was less than a 3 week turnaround.
While I understand that the focus issue with his lens, since it’s not a 2.8 lens may take less time, these time frames are not acceptable. How long would it have been if I wouldn’t have sent an email today? Another 3-4 maybe 5 days? And then add that to the shipping time, estimate time, and repair time?
Do you feel that I should have to wait up to 8 weeks to get a professional lens back? I understand that there is nothing that can be done in regards to Nikon’s repair times, but it also should not have taken three days to get to the repair dept once KEH received it.
Please ship my lens back to me either today or tomorrow with a full tracking number.
UPDATE
Apparently I got someone's attention at Nikon with my Twitter rant yesterday, because today Nikon USA responded and told me to have KEH contact them immediately. Contacted KEH and stated that Nikon wants them to contact Nikon to assist in resolving this issue.
Guess we shall see what happens.
Who was the Nikon USA person that contacted you?
