Hark as Jake said a second walk in Princeton was added. We've signed up for the earlier one here.

After looking at the local walk, so far no one else signed up besides the leader. So...I opted for the same early Princeton walk that you and a few others will be attending. Right now it will be tentative for me (caregiver responsibilities), but so far it looks promising that I can attend. If I know for sure I won't be able to attend, I will let them know. Thanks again for the info!

I wear my hat!

Is there any way to still get Nikonites apparel?

I did a twofer a couple years ago (downtown Philly and West Chester). Long day but fun. One of my friends, who is attending the Princeton walk, goes to the re-enactment of the crossing every year at Washington's Crossing.

We did the Crossing the Delaware reenactment a couple Christmases ago. Once was enough. :)

Just a thought. . . any idea how many folks across the world from Nikonites are attending a walk? Maybe we can have a special challenge for attendees for their SECOND best shot since we assume their best will be submitted to the photowalk site?

hrm, it would be fun to have a little contest with prizes based on this. We have no way to know how many people are going without them responding to this thread though. Maybe I can do some kind of announcement.

While I am unable to attend... I think this would be a fun thing... Just thought I would air my 2 cents

I've never entered a competition of this magnitude. Since there will probably be lots of passersby, will we need photo releases in case strangers are in our photos?

To my knowledge if you are in a public space then you are fair game to be photographed. I'm not necessarily looking to shoot people or do street photography, but if someone is aware I'm shooting them I'll always try and ask permission, even if it's just to mouth, "Do you mind?", as I raise the camera.

Lots of holes to get into in Princeton anyway.

Thank you for the info. I haven't been there in years, but I'm specifically thinking of a plaza with a large water fountain; however, I'm sure there will be people milling around no matter where we go. Like you, I'm really not into people photography--just the beautiful architecture and scenes of Princeton. I hope we get to walk through the campuses of the University and Seminary. There's a creek/river that runs behind there, and sometimes there are people out doing crew--not to mention other boats. It's a highly scenic area with lots of photo ops to offer! And hopefully the trees will turning even more by then! :)

I'm really no sure how the "walk" works. I know some walks are meant to keep people in groups while others allow you to just kind of go where you want only to meet up at certain points during/after the event. We're starting on the non-University side of Nassau Street, but the PU and Seminary campuses are easily within walking distance. Carnegie Lake, where the crew events happen, is a good 3/4 mile walk from Nassau Street down Washington Rd, which I believe is where that fountain you mentioned is, outside the Wilson School building. Been a long time since I've been there, but spent my entire youth in the area. I'm hoping the Chapel will be open - and that the weather cooperates.

In past walks it is real informal. People meet up and just kind of wander off in groups that break up and re-form. Sort of like dropping oil into water. Usually folks get together at the end to eat and chimp images.

I've never heard that term either Ed... I'm pretty sure I do that all the time, haha

Anyone bringing a tripod? Ed, are you bringing your 17-55? :)
