Very happy with NX Studio but might like to try stitching a panorama.

I try to keep the post processing on my photos to a minimum and I'm very happy with the capabilities of Nikon's NX Studio. But there are times when I'd like to try stitching together a panorama or stacking images for a time-lapse. Are there safe, stable, dependable programs (preferably free!)...

    Best settings for sharable videos?

For the very fist time since way back when I got my D750, I used the video recording feature on a camera. I took a 12-second and a 14-second video of truck pulls at the county fair. I know nothing about video recording and used whatever the default settings were in my Z 7II. The video (and...

Z 7II issue - not a problem with the camera, but a problem none the less

Like a lot of males, I have common red/green color blindness. I have no problem identifying colors but, in some circumstances, it's hard for me to see contrasts between reds/greens/browns. I stopped today to take a couple of photos of a favorite place. When I looked through the viewfinder, I...

I get a notification alert on the forum site when I leave a "like" or quote a post.

I get a notification alert on the forum site when I leave a "like" or quote a post. I like the notification feature, but my notifications button lights up red and shows notifications when I quote a post or leave a "like.' I already know that I've done this, so seeing the red notification alert...

Shorty forty? Sporty forty? Nikkor Z 40mmf/2

Mine was just delivered. Satisfyingly compact and light! I hope to get out later for some initial testing and first impressions. I'm surprised there's not much mention of it here...

    58mm f/1.4G bokeh

I just received a new-to-me AF-S 58mm f/1.4G and took a few shots indoors after doing the necessary Autofocus Fine Tune (+11). Don't mind the dust; just try to look at the bokeh... ;) ...at f/1.4 ...at f/2 I'm excited about adding this lens to my assortment of Nikkor "standard" primes!

I just bought a Canon Selphy CP1300 4x6 photo printer -- what fun!

I didn't even know these things existed! I've grown to hate inkjet printers over the years, but this little dye sublimation printer is a joy to use. At about .31 cents for a 4x6 print, it's competitive to the pharmacy/photo lab, but much more fun. You can even run it on a battery for totally...

Finally... the solution to the rubber body cover on older cameras getting sticky?

My old D200 rubber body covering was getting really sticky. I tried cleaning it with warm water, warm water and soap, Simple Green, rubbing alcohol... all to no avail. It still felt disgusting. Last night, I wiped it down with a cloth wet with 303 Protectant, a rubber/vinyl/plastic...

    Canon Selphie CP1300 4x6 printer

Producing 4x6 dye sublimation prints at about .35 USD each sounds attractive. Reviews are excellent. I'm very tempted, for sharing snapshots. Anyone here using one?

I finally gave in and now have doubts about my decision...

I love my D750 and my old D200 (and the Nikon film bodies that I just can't seem to let go of), but every time I read about the D500, I feel like I should get one before they're gone. I ordered a new one from B&H last night. :)

Finally broke down and purchased a very nice 50mm f/1.2 AI-S

They are as challenging to use wide open as I had heard. My initial shots up close at an AF fine tuning target showed I was missing focus about half the time. It's surprising how much more critical the focus is with this lens wide open vs. the f/1.4 at near subjects. I did better after a...

I love my little waterproof/submersible Fujifilm Finepix XP130 -- so handy!

I'm not afraid to bring it out on the water in the pocket of my waders...

Nikon is running their 10% off refurbished items sale

Lots of cameras, lenses and other items to choose from... It seems like folks have very good luck purchasing refurbed stuff from Nikon, so I bit the bullet and ordered an AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G. I have the f/1.8G version and I'm happy with it. The f/1.4G gets mixed reviews and though some of...

AF-S 24mm f/1.8G images won't show up in MacBook search

When I type "24mm" or even "AF-S 24mm f/1.8G" into the search box of my MacBook Pro's Finder page, I get no photos taken with this lens in the results. Typing in any other focal length, like 180mm for example, will list all the images made with my AF 180mm f/2.8D ED IF. Any focal length typed...

Opening files in a folder on a MacBook (Big Sur)

Is there a way to open a folder full of photo files and then view them one at a time by using the arrow key to navigate through the folder? I'm a former PC user and I'm frustrated when I open a folder full of photo files on my Mac and have to double-click each to open it, then close it, then...

Peak Design Everyday Backpack, magnetic closures, and my newer MacBook

In my seemingly never-ending search for a handy camera pack, I finally gave in and ordered a 30L Everyday Backpack from Peak Design. I watched countless YouTube videos before finally clicking the "Buy" button (and wincing with pain from the price). So, naturally, as per Murphy's law now that...

    Fill flash

Yesterday I was snowshoeing with friends and set up a quick photo on a hilltop with the background bright with snow and back-lit. I had my AF-S 24mm f/1.8G stopped down to f/2.2 to get the shutter speed down to 2000 and popped up the camera's flash for fill. It didn't go off. When I stopped...

How small can the subject be?

Came upon this deer on the frozen lake, but had a wide angle lens on the camera. This is what I did... it seems pleasing to me if a large version of the image is viewed. Or is it just a jumbled mess? Does it work for you? Be honest...

A CLS system using my older Nikon speed lights and 3rd party budget gear?

I remember researching this a while back and thinking I had it figured out, but never went through with purchasing the gear. My situation: From my F4s film days, I have two SB-24 speedlights and a compact SB-22s speedlight. I later purchased an SB-800 for my D750. I'm looking for a tool that...

Checking new lenses for autofocus tuning

I just picked up a very nice used AF-S 24mm f/1.8G. It looks almost unused. My testing showed it was softer, even at the center, than expected wide open but it did well after stopping down to 2.8 or 4. Lab tests in the reviews showed that it should have still had excellent center sharpness...
