There's no reason to change away from continuous autofocus unless you have to focus and recompose. I never focus and recompose with the AF settings available these days.

Nope. These ducks are used to people, and will often get too close for me to be able to fit them in the frame. Quite different from Wood Ducks who aren't used to people, for sure.
