    This young Great Blue Heron hasn't left the nest quite yet. Out on the very edge of a branch coming off the nest, I thought this might be first flight time. Instead, after a few moments, it was back to the nest for a nap. :)

    Thanks! A shy Bullsnake, a bit over a meter long I would guess. They are very tame and won't bite unless they are really provoked. That's the case with most snakes. They are cute little guys and I always love seeing them. :)

    Thanks for pointing out my error, Clovishound. EN4 and EN-EL4 are two different batteries. I found this used EN4...

    Without good light, black birds are really hard. You just need to do the best you can exposing for the bird and very likely overexposing the background. From there processing with masks can usually get the background back in control. In bad light, though, it can be impossible to get the details...
