This is my current diffuser set up STAGE 2.

Samples - These images had been cropped for the first framing and secondly as an extreme crop.

Well I decided to see if I could make up a "dodgy" flash diffuser to go on my on board flash. All I used was 1 x A3 paper and a couple pieces of sticky tape. Then went out bug hunting. These are not my best but I am fairly happy with my quick and rough set up.

I am considering a dedicated macro flash and cannot work out which would be better, ring flashes or the speedlight version flashes like the Nion R1. Does anyone have any experience with dedicated macro flashes?
