Did a little duck hunting with my D7100 and Nikkor 200-500 today On the walk out into the marsh I had the Kenko 1.4 TC attached - on the way back it was off. Not an exact comparison but it was a learning experience. While have a 35mm equivalent reach over 1050mm (that's what shows up in the...

    Dragonflies

This one is rather drab as dragonflies go but sitting pretty on some geraniums in the evening sun. The second one is the handle on our little hand spade.

What Lens is on Your D7100 Right Now?

Having fun experimenting with my lens collection on my new D7100. At the moment it is sitting in front of me with a Nikkor 55-300 AFS and a Kenko 1.4 T.C. . Found that combo works better than the Tamron 70-300 which I thought strange as Kenko and Tamron are related companies. I did check -...

Got me a Grouse today - in my backyard - up in a spruce tree - how do you get your grouses? I quickly grabbed the nearest camera - the D7100 - with the Nikkor AFS 55-300 and a Kenko 1.4 attached. First shot taken with the T.C. I was in the deep shade of the spruce and quickly took off the...

Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX 1.4x AF Teleconverter

Another day another Kenko test This time I mounted it between my 55-300 DX VR lens and the D7100. I checked carefully first to see if there was a chance for lens to lens contact - seemed to me there was sufficient space and no danger of contact. It was a gloomy day for a test - but maybe...

Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX 1.4x AF Teleconverter

I "crop-a-lot" especially when shooting birds at a distance. Nice to know that with the 70-200 which only gets to 280 with the 1.4 TC I can still 'crop-a-lot' and get a good image. I'm tempted to drop the $220 and get a Kenko 2.0 T.C. just for this lens. I do not have another 2.8 lens that...

Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX 1.4x AF Teleconverter

Nikkor 70-200 + Kenko close crop vs Tamron 70-300 + Kenko close crop. Both are good - Nikkor is better IMHO

Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX 1.4x AF Teleconverter

Another day another trip to Jesse Lake to shoot some ducks and anything else that moves (or moves me). Today I packed out my 70-300mm Tamron and my 70-200 Nikkor to compare them with the Kenko TC attached. I also shot a few BIF's of seagull in the park with the Tammy without the Kenko. Much...

Both shot with D7100 - and a Tamron 70-300 First one with Kenko 1.4 TC the BIF without. I did find it a lot easier to get focus without the T.C. - none on my BIF with the T.C. were post worthy. The T.C. ads reach but at the cost of faster focus - and maybe a slight loss of I.Q.

Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DGX 1.4x AF Teleconverter

Well I have a new camera to play with. Put the Kenko and the 200-500 on my D7100 and went bird hunting. First - someone had asked about noise when focusing. On the D610 (and D90 and D5100) there is a very little noise - had to listen for it. But on the D7100 it is much louder. I don't know...

    Post your birds (2)

Went duck hunting with my new D7100 Used the Nikkor 200-500 and my Kenko 1.4 So how does that work again - 500 x 1.4 = 700mm x 1.5 = 1050mm? I need a bit more practice with this camera - my 'keeper rate' today with the D7100 was way down from what I get with my D610 with same lens and TC...
