New 16 lens camera gunning for a chunk of the DSLR market.

If I can turn this... ...into this... ...in 60 seconds in Photoshop, the answer is, "Yes it can".

Service Recall on 200-500mm f5.6. Surprise, surprise!!

Seems Nikon botched another new release and there's bug in the AF for the new 200-500mm. https://photographylife.com/dont-be-a-guinea-pig I'm done with early adopter syndrome with Nikon.

    24.1mp, will this enough to blow a picture to 10ft w x 8ft h?

onOne Perfect Resize is an excellent program in that it allows you to really refine the image at size. With that said, one of the best up-sizing programs I've ever used is Adobe Camera RAW. Seriously. Don't believe me? I took the same 24MP RAW file (from a D7100) and used ACR to enlarge it...

    Catching up with Jake

Yeah, that's all part of the channel swap I use - or at least one of them. Here's another shot I took on the same outing as the power lines with a similar treatment... After seeing it friend of mine on Facebook posted that they were convinced that I was merging IR and visible light...

    Catching up with Jake

Your answer is actually contained in the 5 photos above. The Sigma 15mm fisheye is awesome (no spotting), as are the 24-120mm and 16-35mm f4 Nikons. The biggest surprise is the 28-80mm f/3.3-5.5G Nikkor that's essentially a cheap, $50 lens I got off of eBay. Not only isn't there any hot...

    Catching up with Jake

I've been scarce, and I can't promise that will change significantly, but I thought I'd open something up to share a bit of what I've been doing this year. A lot of Infrared, so I'll start with a bit of that from the last month, and catch up on the rest as I have time. This is all with my...

Photo Books - Mpix, BayBooks, others?

Putting together a photo book of my in-law's 50th Anniversary celebration and I'm looking for recommendations and places to avoid. I'm a KelbyOne member and get a decent discount at Mpix and BayPhoto/BayBooks, so I'm inclined to go there, but if there's a place you've dealt with that's...

New D750 need a travel lens

Here's a shot from the D750 with the 24-120mm at ISO 12500, straight out of camera with no noise adjustments whatsoever. I stopped down to f5.6 to remove any softness (not that there's much). Like they said, crank the ISO and shoot.

In Search of Older Glass for IR

I'm hoping @480sparky will chime in here, but I'm looking for some recommendations on older glass. But wait!!! Please don't answer until you've read why. My D800 was recently converted to 720nm infrared by KolariVision, so it's fair to say I've gone at IR photography full bore. I've been...

    Remote Shutter Release Questions

I use a pair of Vello Freewave Fusion remotes. The same basic unit will trigger any of my Nikons with the proper cable, as well as my Sony. The 2 units can be configured so they fire only from a specific trigger, or you can fire multiple cameras with a single remote, allowing me to do stuff...

    EXIF Data on Video Files

Does anyone here know if Nikon embeds EXIF-like data on the video files created by their DSLR's?! I'm having a hell of a time finding out. I did find a site that says that Canon now does it, which means that they didn't at some point. I can't seem to find any when I use normal file...

    WTT: Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for Nikkor 24-120mm f4

Got my D800 converted for IR and was hoping that either my Sigma or 24-85mm would serve as walkaround lenses for it, but they both produce some significant hot spots. (FYI, hot spots are caused by internal coatings on lenses designed for digital cameras that filter out IR light - these are...

D750 and the Sigma 150-500mm - more firmware nonsense

My 150-500mm tends to live on my D7100, but circumstances this weekend caused me to slip it only my D750 for the first time and, wouldn't you know it, the image stabilization refuses to engage on the body (I get it to engage once out of every 10-20 focus locks). Just to be sure that it wasn't...

    Sigma 70-300mm macro & D7200 Compatibility Issue?

I have a Sigma 70-300mm macro that I just mailed to a friend with a D7200 to check out since she doesn't need a macro but would like the functionality. It worked fine when I boxed it up and it arrived just fine, but it's giving an 'F EE' error on her D7200. I know there have been rumors of...

    Show Transform Controls--Need Help Please

You have to choose a type of Transform before you get the tools, and once you choose that mode (he chose Warp in the video), you'll get the options for that particular transform across the top of the window. Transform and Free Transform work similarly and once you've chosen a type of transform...

    Good looking histograms.....

The real histogram freaks would look at this and tell you how this screams about all the white balance work you need to do because you have your colors peaking in different places. There's a science to that obsession, but I can't go there. For me it's not a shape-thing, it's a breadth thing...

WARNING - READ FIRST - Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 just released

There is a way to keep CC 2014 during install, and a way to get it back if you miss that. It's all here... https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-2015-updates.html Thankfully when I reinstalled CC 2014 it had all my links to the old software saved. I'm "chatting" with...
