    What causes pixelation?

Yesterday I took this photo, but no matter how I edit it and upload it to Facebook, the sky gets pixelated. I even uploaded the full size yet still saw the problem. Normally I size the resolution for 240 and set it for 1600 pixels on the long side--which is how I normally resize my images. I'm...

    Post your favorite January shot

The Delaware Canal in Yardley, PA. It was much warmer than normal so the canal wasn't completely frozen.

    What might have caused this?

This afternoon I took several images at a local park with my D750. Slot 1 is NEF and slot 2 is jpeg fine. When it came time to convert the NEF to DNG, this one file cited an error and couldn't be converted. The slot 2 jpeg image doesn't have the banding at the bottom like this NEF image. The NEF...

Post Your Artful Potato (or other vegetable) Challenge

I had a Mr. Potato Head when I was a kid. Would have enjoyed recreating this! ;)

    Post your latest purchases.

Glad it worked out for you. Looks like they are out of stock now, and since they are currently closed, an order won't be processed right away anyway. However, it looks like these can still be ordered, and the orders will be fulfilled when they get more in stock. Just wish it wouldn't take...

    Post Your Heavy Equipment Shots!

I can't say for sure that this is considered to be heavy equipment because it was out-of-order and left sitting on the side of the road. ;) We are still digging out from 22" of snow over the weekend. Plows broke down and needed to be dug out by backhoes. The photo is posted in my 366 thread, too.

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

This area is still digging out from the snow storm. Supposedly the total for this area was 22". According to a couple of neighborhood watch groups, even a few plows got stuck and had to be dug out by backhoes. Today school was cancelled, and tomorrow they are calling for a two-hour delay...

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

A couple more from this afternoon. We are expecting LOTS of white stuff either late Friday night or during the early hours of Saturday morning--but not THIS white stuff. ;) It's supposed to continue all day Saturday and into Sunday. Last I heard, they were calling for between 12" to 18" of...

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

I contacted one of the canal organizations asking if there are any plans to restore this end of it, and they let me know they are looking for the right person/organization to respond. When I searched online, I couldn't find photos that show this end of the canal so my reason for taking these is...

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

I really enjoy seeing the Delaware Canal. One of my previous photos shows a beautiful section of it. The canal is man made and runs from around Easton, PA down to Bristol, PA. Built in 1832, they used the canal to transport goods via mule pulled barges. As roads were built for transportation...

    Monopod head modification

After purchasing a Manfrotto monopod, I searched through the various types of heads available. Since I already have 2 Manfrotto tripod heads (one takes a hexagonal plate while the other is a rectangular QR plate), I looked at monopod heads made by them so I can use the same plates. Manfrotto...

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

Here are a couple from this afternoon--both along the banks of the Delaware Canal. It's been unusually warm so the canal hasn't frozen over completely.

    Blacktop's 366 day trip through 2016

When I clicked to see the new posts in your thread, the following screen shot shows all I could see on my laptop. I only read as far as while waiting at the can so I assumed the photo was a row of porta-potties! I am so easily entertained. :beguiled:

    nikon as 24-120 f4 VR

I don't have the lens and have never used one so my comments come from shooting in somewhat low-light situations. Here is a SOOC photo taken yesterday immediately prior to the Worship service. It was a test shot to check the exposure--it is completely unedited except for forum resizing. I was...

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

Thanks, Roy. I really liked Jake's results from his initial post about it. It really isn't that hard to do--and it's definitely something I will play around with again. :)

    Hark's 2015 and 2016

Just for kicks, I tried out the Twirl technique that @BackdoorHippie mentioned in his thread. I don't want to post the original photo since it was 4 musicians performing during a Worship service. I did what Jake suggested by rotating the top layer 180°. This is the result.

    Monopod v Tripod

Adorama has the Manfrotto 680B for a really good price...$59.88 at the moment. It can be ordered directly through Adorama or by going through Amazon using Adorama as the seller. I just bought one for myself as I've been wanting a monopod. Question: How many use a head on a monopod? Is one...

    Rokinon 14mm on Nikon D750

For me there are times when I really like the perspective distortion when the lens is aimed up a little. This was taken with my Nikon 14mm.
