    Hark 2020

Here is another image from this morning. When this combo nails focus in low light, it is absolutely amazing with its sharpness. Unfortunately wide open with a TC, my aperture is f/6.7. It's another image at ISO 5000. While the squirrel was waiting for me to go back inside, it grabbed a seed or...

    Hark 2020

Today was forecast for thunderstorms which now look like they won't come in until this afternoon. Despite the sun being out, I still hit my cap of ISO 5000 under this shaded section of our tree. I haven't seen Wilson for a long time. He was the little squirrel that was so photogenic. There is...

    Hark 2020

Big difference in the amount of light between yesterday and today. The first image was from yesterday. Looking though photos with these 2 sparrows, the one on the left must have lost an eye. It's that way in all the photos. This female Red-Winged Blackbird was from today. When I put out bird...

    Hark 2020

This isn't a good photo, but I'm posting it because it was a complete surprise. I framed up the image, and a split second before I pressed the shutter, the sparrow that was sitting there flew off. During that split second, my thumb continued to press the back button which allowed the camera to...

    Hark 2020

I've found this camera/lens combo struggles with sharpness when the subject is in low light. If I didn't have the TC, it wouldn't be a problem. It was extremely shaded where the deer stood - much darker than the image appears.

    Hark 2020

A few from this afternoon. The fisherman was a picturesque find. :) On my way back to the main road, I saw the 8th Great Wonder of the World - looks like a Pyramid. ;) Actually it is part of a landfill. :( In the area below, they used to allow fishing. I never noticed trash or any fishing...

Weekly Challenge June 3 - 9: Motion Blur

@cwgrizz please don't count mine in for the final poll. I'd rather allow someone else be in the running. Thanks! :encouragement:

    ultra sharp wildlife pics

Question for you @BackdoorArts - Jake, you mentioned not using any sharpening or noise reduction in Lightroom. So do you reset the default sharpening and noise reduction to zero?

Do I Need A Lens Collar? D7200 and Nikkor 55-300

I don't think that lens would need a tripod collar. I have the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR AF-S which weighs at least 6 ounces heavier, and I never felt the need to use a tripod collar with it. Nikon doesn't even make one for that lens - and that's one way to tell whether or not you might want to...

    ultra sharp wildlife pics

Not necessarily. A lot of it depends on the brightness of your scene. Here is one shot at 1/1600" with ISO 500 although it is a different body. Are you taking a lot of your images in low light?

I don't know where you found that, Fred, although I'm not saying you're wrong. They must be releasing conflicting information. This is what I found...

That IS a nice bird, @canuck257 - I don't recall ever having seen one in person. Bet you are loving your 500mm PF! ;) Nicely done.

    Amazon Chase 0% Financing Offer

Curious if anyone else received the 0% financing offer when using the Amazon Chase card. At first I wondered if it was from another party, but it was legitimately sent by Chase. They are offering 0% financing for 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, and 48 months. They sell Nikon gear and a lot of...

    SD or XQD

This comes from the link that Fred posted. Lexar tested some of their own cards. I have no idea whether a different brand of SD card would perform better than a Lexar SD card.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 VR on sale

The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 VR is on sale at B&H for $1596.95 - and possibly it is on sale elsewhere. Not a bad price since it is the VR model. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1175033-REG/nikon_af_s_nikkor_24_70mm_f_2_8e.html The non-VR model (the older version) is also on sale for...

Post your favorite April 2020 shot

I have two favorites for different reasons. This one kind of fell into my lap. Initially I was parked across the parking lot and saw people stopping holding their cell phones out car windows. When I drove over, I saw this red-tailed hawk. Fortunately I had my camera with me. The following...

June 2020 Theme: Two Options for Choices

"Low to the Ground Perspective OR Food/Beverage(s)" After a great deal of consideration, I decided to go with two very different topics from the link that @nikonpup posted. 1. Low to the Ground means you are taking the photo from a low vantage point. You can handhold the camera, use a tripod...

    Post your latest purchases.

I decided to add two longer stripboxes - am staying with the Glow EZ Lock brand. After looking up the price on Amazon (using camelcamelcamel.com), the price of $75 each wasn't too bad. Purchased directly thru Adorama though. The regular price is $90 each. The nice thing is they not only include...
