Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

A couple of notes...relative to your workflow... It's been a while since I did this... but examine your LR import process, and make sure that LR isn't applying ANY Noise reduction or Sharpening... I think it does some be default... I created a pre-set in LR that basically doesn't apply any...

Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

I'd do the three programs... They're relatively "finished"... The Photo AI is not really finished... and has more than a few issues... sadly...

Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

I use Gigapixel a lot... especially after doing heavy cropping... Topaz's stated intention is to be the best at specific photography editing tools... At present they've staked out the 3 features of Denoise, Sharpening, and Upscaling as where they want to be... I think their Denoise and...

Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

Just double checking you weren't upgrading RAM with a spinning hard drive... At this point, and insight with the direction that companies like Topaz are going, if I had to crack open a box to upgrade RAM, I'd most certainly consider loading the motherboard with whatever the max specs call for...

    No monochrome

Nikon is infamous for leaving off features on entry-level cameras as a method of differentiating a difference in price/performance... They create higher end cameras, and then create the lower end cameras to meet a lower-price market demand... It's feasible that they just dump whatever software...

z6ii settings (changed from "BBAF on Z camera)

Let's discuss what BBF is supposed to do and the reasons it was devised... Historically, AF-S and AF-C were managed by a switch... You had to physically use the switch to change between the two modes... You're out doing some landscape shooting and you're in AF-S mode because you want control...

z6ii settings (changed from "BBAF on Z camera)

It's supposed to be the A7 menu setting that allows the decoupling... You wanna select "AF-On ONLY"... there should also be an "AF-On + Shutter"... <-- you don't want that one...

    Cause(s) of soft images

Raw Right Away is an application that lets Apple users "preview" Nikon NEF files (or any other file) by simply tapping the space bar... it also displays most of the EXIF data and a histogram without Opening the file with an editor.... just using Finder... It's also the only way to see the focus...

    Cause(s) of soft images

It won't help with Z cameras because they not supported... but it will restore the issue with seeing the focus square of your previous DSLR images...

    Cause(s) of soft images

You're using Raw Right Away... Yes???? Fire up the app itself and go to preferences and doble check that Focus points are checked as one of the display options... then note the Note at the bottom of the preferences screen about OS 13.2 and Renaming the Raw Right Away application... That should...
