Somebody posted this woodpecker a while back and I fell in love with it. I never expected to be able to photograph it so imagine my surprise when, after leaving Marilynne and going to my car, I see this guy in the tree immediately above the hood. I cannot remember what the species is though.

Dedicated to Marilynne without whom this shot would not have happened.
