    d600/d610 resale

@rocketman122 Exactly! That 55/1.2 or 1.4 just doesn't have the same luster on DX as it does on FX. And likewise, "kit" 24-85VR can well squeeze far better results out of FX than 18-55 can out of DX, but the base gap is extremely noticeable. And viewfinder alone is gold to have in a proper size.

    Lens contrast vs Post contrast?

I understand how in the past and during jpeg days, lens' characteristics indeed played a significant role in the overall picture, but now that most of us take full advantage of RAW and post'ing (forum pun aside) is anything but lens' sharpness even that relevant anymore? Colors can be punched up...

Help Me spend my Income Tax Refund

You know, @Fortkentdad, quite the dilemma indeed since you more or less already have a decent almost all-around arsenal, iffy extras, and hardly enough $ for something you'd definitely benefit from. I'd save up for whichever you need more - 28 or 24-70/2.8 or 70-200, perhaps f/4 or 2.8 VR1...

    Sooo, which triggers to get...?

Happened to open up some funds and I feel its time to get a set of decent triggers and maybe another cheapy TTL-capable flash like the ones @WayneF reviewed last month. Ideally I'd want to be able to pass the settings from the 600 to the receivers to avoid having to mess with the flashes...

Guess back to basics for a bit..

Still don't know how, but managed to drop mine and so its back to the 5100 w/ all the glass until I send in the 6 for the "free" shutter thing again and hopefully damaged mirror hinge (on the right side) won't cost over 3-400 or so. My 55/1.2 took the same dive and, the stock UV filter took the...

February Assignment: Light and it's SHADOW

Out of nowhere but catching up with my mom, something was bugging me on the wall... Either of these 2 for entry #1, but for practical purposes lets say 1 and 2. More of "making of really"...

Prime 300mm vs 70-200 zoom for wildlife

@maddog 7100 won't be miles above and beyond 3200 in image quality, so you might as well go ahead with the lens. With any wildlife, the longer the better almost always, so I'd aim for the 150-600 or the 300 prime for utmost image quality. I had a similar debate with upgrading my tele zoom, but...

Revisiting the remainder of last year's firsts.

Namely the DC autoshow that I attended last year, but 5100+only a 2.8 24mm w/ CPL was a real fun time..... Nevertheless, I think one local exotic dealer spotted my card somewhere and displayed it at their table and posted one of the shots from my FB on theirs. So this year - sadly no CPL (won't...

    New Here!!

@Judo got my 600 knowing the oil shutter issue and in practice I've only had it impede my work maybe once or twice, after sending it in for the free service. Just keep using it until the issue really starts getting in your way, and then you'll get a freebie out of it (albeit costing some time).
