    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

    Thanks Vixen - it just wasn't so much of a challenge. Simply sitting there on a stem. So I then decided to take a selfie … and I am extremely happy under the circumstances. | | | | | | | | | | | From this ...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

2nd October The light gods are conspiring against me. It was too bright all day - well, until I took my camera out that is - at which point the heavens opened up! Go figure. So camped inside the front door I set the tripod up and shot this flower growing on the deck. A tad disappointing but...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

1st October Really hard to get up for a photo today. I went out twice and eventually decided to shoot something, anything ... Found this restaurant which looked cosy. Might even try it one day.

This little girl was out with her family on a walk. Mother ordered two prints - my first sale ever!

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

30th September 9 Months down! Hard to believe. Had no idea what my intentions were today. In the end I took about 20 photos and none were too good although I was trying a few different things (such as remembering that I have a polarising filter on my 18-105). So nothing too flash and a...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

29th September Not my usual style tonight. My flatmate got a set of those macro filters that screw on to the front of the lens so I thought I would try it out. Took some getting used to as it has a very narrow depth of field and with a wasp millimetres from my nose I was very much the reluctant...

Has joined D300 owners group! :)

Thanks @DCB There is one going for a good price (subject to reserve) with grip and accessories but no lens. Will be watching it closely for interest if noting else. Not sure I want a second body and quite happy with my D5100 but this thread got me thinking ...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

28th September A bit disappointing today. I took a few photos but none were really any good. Came across a family (mum, dad, daughter and dog) out for a walk and snapped two of the little girl. One of which is OK and I will forward to them.

    Sharpening in Post Processing

Thanks guys. Checked those out - watched and read and am a little bit - but not altogether - wiser. What I did learn is there is no sharpening in RAW at all and as I shoot in RAW only this is good to know. I also learned that Camera RAW will sharpen and suggest (by using the settings) what it...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Here's another from 9/27 that I processed this morning. It won't much of a shot until I put the grunge on it and suddenly it popped out.

    Sharpening in Post Processing

Can anyone point me to where I can learn about sharpening in PP with Camera RAW? My specific quest is to find out what to look for when sharpening. I don't understand "radius" and how the slider effects it. Should I be increasing or decreasing radius etc.? Clarity on "luminance" and...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

27th September @Blacktop - I saw a few likes there and figured you were catching up. Thanks. Righto what did I get up to today? Nice overcast day so decided to go for a drive. Discovered that the horse jumping crowd were out in force so I went a mingling. Took a few of them actually...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

The things that wasn't "constructed" or planned - it just was. So no skill on my part. Here is the cleaner version for you with a bit of a crop to remove the guy on the left's hand.

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

26th September Lacking motivation today and feeling like my photography is going backward! So many great photographers around tells me I have so very much to learn. And that is one of the 'faults' with a 365 - it doesn't take into account how much time you put in. For example today I have...

    If you're still in, 365 - 2014

I'm still in but, like @Vixen, sometimes ask myself "Why?" I haven't had Wendy's issues although did have major surgery as a small bump in the road. Most of the times I have felt like dropping out was through lack of motivation and lack of imagination - the latter being very common. Hopefully I...

    Question on Aperture Priority

OK here is one - bugger all editing done ISO was 640 Shutter 1/30 f4.0 So ISO was NOT maxed out to cause the shutter to drop to such a slow speed
