    Weekly Challenge Sept. 7-14: Transition

It's getting really deep! Taken at Green lakes sate park, I believe the depth and minerals create the green hue. It's a very small lake which drops sharply to 195 feet.

Ball game with the 70-300 vr

The Washington Nationals triple-A affiliate is here in Syracuse, I brought my 70-300 to see how well it would perform. Unfortunately it was cloudy, so I shot with the ISO between 800-3200 for more speed. I did not crop any of these shots to show the true range, shot most of these between...

New to me Nikon 70-300 VR

I've never bought used lenses before, but when I saw a listing for a "like new, rarely used" Nikon 70-300 VR for only $250 I had to check it out. This was to me one of the 3 "must have" lenses for my triad. It was as advertised, immaculate, and I got it for $225! Of course it is a rainy day, but...

    Yellow Bird

I've noticed this yellow bird (not sure what it's name really is) over the past few weeks at our bird bath but could never get the camera out fast enough. This morning I built a cardboard blind to fit in a window about 20 feet away and finally got a few shots. I had only seen the one bright...

Should I have kept my D40?

Here's an example of my learning the multi-point focusing. I did not pay attention to the fact that the neck and lip was the focal point, since the bottom is wider, it is closer and out of focus: I learned from my mistake and in the next shot was more aware of the focal points (and also...

    D3100 case/bag recommendations?

I use a photo backpack for general storage with all my gear. When I am traveling light with just the one lens I use a promaster form fitting case (about $20.00). This gives me some protection and the camra comes out quickly for shooting. This is great for hiking and such where you might bump...
