I saw a brief discussion in the July/August 2014 American Photo magazine about a new tripod head from Manfrotto. The interesting concept is that the handles retract. The name of the head is the X PRO 3 Way Head. I can see this being useful during transport and to avoid catching things on them...
Calling all of my local Philly area Nikonites. I just learned about a free tour and photo shoot at the Peace Valley Lavender Farm outside of Doylsetown this Saturday. Chance of rain according to the weather man but I went ahead and signed up. There are still spots open. Here is the link for more...
In case the Nikon 1 shooters here haven't seen it, there is an excellent thread and discussion on DPReview regarding setting up your Nikon 1 to maximize image quality.
Smart Collections are your friend. If you have keywords, create them based on keywords (see below). For instance, I have a Collection Set titled "Europe". Within that Collection Set, I have a Smart Collection for countries.
Couple things I forgot to mention. First is that the lens mount was more "centered" on the V1. The V2 is slightly off center.
The pop-up flash vignettes with the 1 Nikkor VR 10-100mm f/4-5.6. I wound up using my SB-5N at my stepson's graduation. The combo works well - example below with a...
Welcome to Nikonites! I love visiting your country - it has absolutely nothing to do with kaasstengels or bitterballen. If my wife says anything differently, don't believe her.
According to Thom Hogan, both Nikon USA and Canada have moved the D300s to the archive or retired list. With the rumors of an imminent Nikon announcement and earlier rumors of a D9300 body, could we finally see a D300 / D300s replacement?
Ran across an interesting link on Digital Camera World which had a brief description of why using higher bit depth while shooting RAW allows for wider range of tones in your images. I've linked to an illustration that shows the effect bit depth and compression have on Nikon raw files sizes for...
Working in a remote office for the beginning of the week. I kept looking at the building across the way over my laptop and distorted reflection of the building I was actually in. Towards the end of the day, I grabbed the V2 to capture this image.
Been traveling a lot for work and received a new, close-out V2 from Henry's on Saturday. Finally found an hour or so this afternoon to play around with it. Updated the firmware and mounted my 1 Nikkor 10-100mm f/4.0-5.6 VR. Took a couple shots in the house (my dog and a candle my wife had...
The family and I took in the Dodgers - Phillies game yesterday. We witnessed baseball history as Josh Beckett threw a no-hitter. I brought my V1 and 1 Nikkor 10-100mm f/4.0-5.6 VR lens. Here are a few images from the game.
I'm not familiar with the seller and it is via eBay, but SlickDeals has a link to the Sigma 150-500mm F/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Autofocus Lens (Canon or Nikon) for $725 and free shipping. Supposedly it is around $175 lower than advertised anywhere else.
