Thanks, Robin. We see Avocet each year in a few ponds or lakes with nice, shallow shorelines. They sure have a hard time raising offspring what with being ground brooders and the constantly changing water levels in our local lakes and ponds. Plenty of predators, too, of course. Having four...

I went to check on the Avocet babies I posted several days ago. They are growing quickly, and all four are still accounted for!

Shift change. Mom's headed to the nest, Dad is up off the eggs and headed to the shoreline to find yummy bugs to eat.
