    How about 10,000 ISO? :)

Here's a 50% crop with no PP besides Lightroom RAW conversion. It was dark enough in the hollow of the tree that I couldn't really see the baby owl with my eyes. The camera snapped into focus just fine. Plenty of noise, but what do you expect at 10,000? :)

    Quick 1600 ISO samples

This is just one example and NOT scientific or meant to be in ANY WAY be something people should make a complete judgement of the D7200's low light performance. I've only taken a very few shots with my new D7200, and I don't have the same shots taken with my D7100 for comparison. I just thought...

    D7200 Lightroom RAW Files Hack

How to edit Nikon D7200 files in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop | Nikon Rumors I saw this in Nikon Rumours today. I have no way to test it, but I thought this might be of interest to a few new D7200 owners since Adobe hasn't updated RAW support for the D7200 yet.

    Sea Lion Branding

I only recently discovered this practice of the Oregon Fish and Game Department. They capture, tag, and brand sea lions with a number, then track them around the area of the Columbia River entrance. This is done to supposedly protect the salmon population. If the sea lions are eating the...

    Reviewers who grumble...

Okay, there are tons of reviewers who are unhappy that the D7200 wasn't more of an upgrade over the D7100. I think they were either wanting a $2000+ camera priced at $1200, or what they really wanted Nikon to do was come out with a D400 (or whatever Nikon would call it) with features similar to...

    Lightroom and external drive setup

Hi all, At some point soon I will need to switch from Aperture to Lightroom, and also start storing pictures on an external drive since the internal drive of my iMac is starting to fill up. When I get/subscribe to Lightroom, can I set it up from the start to import and then store all pictures...

    Woody's 2015 Pics

This will be pretty random, but since so many people do a yearly thread, I thought I would too. I don't feel like doing the 52 assignment thing, and know I can't do every day for 365, so this will be a place to post current projects of all sorts. We took a recent trip to Hawaii, and I am...

    Tamron 150-600/Nikon 300 f/4 and 1.4x Comparison

Okay, here's a quick comparison between the Tamron 150-600mm shot at 420mm, vs my trusted and well loved Nikon 300MM f/4 with a 1.4X Nikon teleconverter. These shots were hand held, so take that into consideration. Pics were taken with a D7100 and there was no post processing of any kind, other...

Nikon 18-300 f/5.6 Close Focus Problem

So I generally like the 18-300 f/5.6 lens, it produces good results at the telephoto range, and very good results in the 18-150 range. Close focus (under 2 meters or so) is fine up until around 150mm, when it starts to back focus significantly. When shooting grasshoppers the other day at...

Looks like Nikon is not introducing the rumored D7200 this Fall as was hoped. :dispirited:

    Bird Tips, Tricks, Techniques, etc.

I searched this forum and didn't see anything like this. Since we have a very large population of bird photographers here, I thought a thread where we share any little tips, tricks, or techniques we have learned might be fun and helpful. This summer I really got serious about bird photography...

    Pied-Billed Grebe Family

I have been watching a group of Pied-Billed Grebes grow up, with Mom not too far away, this summer. The juveniles are cute little things, and look very different from the adults. I thought I'd share a few pics. A young Grebe is on the left, with a pair of young Coot. The grebes and young Coots...
