    Hoya filters

Thanks for the link, @aroy. the test is a little old though & doesn't have the Hoya HD. It would have been interesting to see some Nikon filter results too. @sonicbuffalo I'd prefer the best I can get, Chris. A cheap filter on Nikon glass doesn't sit right with me. :( Horoscope Fish, I think...

    Hoya filters

A simple question hopefully... Which is the best Hoya filter range? I'm interested in Protectors, a Circular Polariser & maybe ND filter in future. Their awful typo website is unclear: HOYA | The Difference is Clear The HD range or the Pro1 range?

    DX 55-300mm on a D610?

@traceyjj Thanks for the suggestion. Looking at pre-owned prices, they seem often to be only slightly cheaper than new. Nikon glass seems to really hold it's value, especially FX. My other issue is that with no camera shops in my location, it's an expensive trip to check out the pre-owned gear.

FS: Nikon D610 and Lenses D610 now Sold... Lenses still available - SOLD

Re: FS: Nikon D610 and Lenses @Jules The camera is too expensive. A grey import has to reflect the price of other greys. Here's some examples: Your D610 second hand grey with 800 shots: £940 Ebay D610 brand new grey: £999 Ebay D610 second hand UK with 375 shots: £820 To me, a second hand...

    DX 55-300mm on a D610?

I've been choosing lens to suit each aspect of photography that interest me, but have reached my budget without choosing something for wildlife. Finding a good quality FX lens of at least 300-400mm is too expensive for me at the moment. Would it be viable to buy a DX lens (e.g. 55-300mm) &...

    EXIF data on images

Some posted photos show EXIF data on hover, some don't. Is that a feature of how the photo is posted?

    Way off topic! lol :)

@Bill16 We're proud of you. I'm supposing that you're in bed right now, maybe trying to sleep. The morning will be difficult. Try to change your routine a little, that way it's easier to break an automatic habit. Have toast instead of cereal, have coffee at a different time. Switch to espresso...

    Extended Warranty

I contacted a UK Nikon specialist called Grays of Westminster who seem to provide a good service & have very good prices. I remembered why I prefer to buy off the internet & not talk to salesmen. However the shop does have good reviews. The salesman did heavily push their extended warranty - it...

    SD Cards?

A few questions on card storage if I may..... What size & format SD cards would be best for shooting RAW on a D610? I like Sandisk as a brand, the Extreme Pro range is their fastest. But UHS I or UHS II? Update: I found a handy Sandisk DSLR compatibility page: SanDisk | Product Compatibility...

@LensWork Thanks for your reply. Which head do you have & do you find that the lighter carbon model feels less stable?

    Speedlight choice

@WayneF Thanks for the info & links. The main purpose of the flash for me would be macro & close-up work. Reading the manual from your excellent link, it seems that the kit is specifically designed for Macro lenses, including my suggested 105mm. The is a specific adaptor for this lens. The R1...

    Speedlight choice

I'm looking to choose a Nikon Speedlight for my forthcoming new kit. Usage would be indoor & outdoor close-up & macro shots, handheld or tripod. Budget £200-£300. Would consider the SB-R1 £400 close-up kit if strongly advised. D610 + 105mm f2.8 micro Can anyone advise which Nikon Speedlight...

    Manfrotto confusion

I am looking for a tripod & am considering the Manfrotto range. Unfortunately the range looks large & confusing with no useful comparison or advice on their website. Usage: Close-up & macro work both indoors & on location. Occasional landscape use. Weight: D610 + 105mm f2.8 micro + flash...

    Lightroom availability

Hi I'm currently using Photoshop elements for image editing. For my forthcoming camera upgrade, I checked the price of Lightroom, only to find that it only seems to be available as a Creative Cloud "payment plan". Is this correct, or am I missing something?
