Walk around lens Nikkor 80-400 VR with Kirk Colar

I was surpised how comfortable of a walk about lens the 80-400 VR was using the Kirk colar as a hand grip. The range was wonderful, gave so many composition options, and even though the light was not high, sharpness was pretty good.

First Test Shot(s) from the 85 1.4 AIS

Got the lens back from the deep scrub session, and it came out beautiful. super clean glass, no mold, no dust, and no scratches or smudges, great to see an old lens restored to almost new condition. I grabed a quick test shot, ISO 600, F 5.6, 1/200th of a second.. using a D700.. Hand held...

The Death of the ED lens

The writing is on the wall, as Nikon continues to phase into the G series lens, more and more of the ED versions are fading to the wayside, Yes, I understand that many of the entry cameras don't drive the ED version, but the size of the ED lens alone for me makes the ED versions desirable...

wow,, 14-24 used prices are high

wow Nikon Zoom Nikkor 14 24mm F 2 8 AF s VR If Ed G Lens No Reserve Auction 0018208021635 | eBay I was thinking that since this example clearly took a hard blow, enough to break the shade, and the focus is stiff, that just perhaps, the price would be reasonable. It started out nice and...

    D700 versus D7000

Sometimes I do photo mine my portfolio, and was mining fom shots taken with a D700 and D7000, often the exact same spot/conditions. The Clear winner -> The D700! sometimes shockingly so. Many of the D700 shots were simply amazing in the clarity, and details, and light control. Maybe, it is the...

    cool,, a 85 1.4 lens

Yea! won a 85 1.4 for 350 dollars, has some mold, so,, it will go to my pro shop for a cleaning, so, total investment will be around 450, which is still a great deal for a 85 1.4 legend lens. Not a bad way,, to afford an exotic lens, if you are willing to put some repair into it. Heard...

    the Classics! -- Brand New

I just checked, and still an extensive full Manual lens from Nikkor still available at BH,, which I find so so cool, I almost bought a brand new 50mm 1.2, but ended up with a used copy. I get a kick that the old 35-70 manual lens is still made for the FM10, how quaint. I picture this old...

    d800 battery grip

I see the price of the Nikkor D800 grip has reduced to the less insane price of 389 from the ridulous price of 650, still high, but closer to reality. Now, I still can't see myself getting one. In the old film days, I used to get some grips for the motor drive, still hardly used them, but they...
