Is it possible to determine what focal length you are using while you take a photo? If I wanted to take a picture at a certain focal length, how would I do it? Say I want to shoot a photo at 17mm with a 12 to 24mm. How would I do it?

When you want to frame a photo, do you buy the frame at the time you have the photo custom enlarged? Use a poster frame? Custom wood frame? Frame your own? Photo interchangeable frame? Does one need to take out a mortgage?
Why is it so hard to get meta files from some photos? I have 3 programs to get these files and some photos refuse to give them up. I was able to see the file in PP but I couldn't copy it.
I'm going to post my learning experience in this thread and hope to see improvement as I go along. New Nikon D3100, no experience but having a good time snapping pictures.
