    Fingerless Gloves

Anybody out there use them for taking photos outdoors? Are they helpful and manageable and do you have a source? I think I got everything else covered but my fingers get so cold I'm afraid they'll freeze to the tripod! Don't want to be just a "fair-weather photographer" Best Regards

    Brothers

To help the nearly exasperated dad, I promised these two boys that they could pose any way they wanted for the next pic -- mom and dad were doing most of the "directing" of the kids. This is the pose they selected, and I try to keep my promises :-) Would like to know what you think?

    Any Strobists Here?

As promised, a result of my Xmas photo shoot --fortunately the "group was 15 not 25 and they were my friends ( so I couldn't go too wrong there!) I used 2 SB-900's, one was off camera to the left with diffuser, the second was on my D2X as a master flash with a lumiquest 20-80 (or 80-20!!)...

    BW Tree

I've been playing around with HDR Efex pro before the trial expires to see if it's really worth the bucks. Some nice presets are included. Too punchy, not punchy enough? Feedback welcome and appreciated.

    Help With Sunsets

I may have gone over the top with this one. Per your suggestions, I re-processed using different combinations. I also had another group of seven where the starting point was a slower shutter speed. I also tried the combinations in several softwares (it should be apparent that I have no social...

Waterfall in Watkins Glen State Park

Here's my rendition. I didn't ask permission to download and tweak, sorry, but Jack did it first (I feel like I'm in first grade! LOL)

Weekly Challenge Dec 22-Jan 5: The Decisive Moment

Re: Weekly Challenge Dec 22-29: The Decisive Moment This was NOT taken within the time frame so IS NOT eligible. But if I had taken it today, this is what I would enter. Technically, not perfect, even compositionally could be better. But for me this was a decisive moment where the energy...

    Help With Sunsets

I may have hit a plateau in my learning curve and could use a nudge or push. Here’s what I like about the photo below: composition and sunset colors. What I think could be better is the mountain and foreground shadow detail I’m not sure if it’s an initial capture issue or a post processing...

Full Eclipse of the Moon Tonight!!

Well, I checked the photographer's ephemeris and the naval observatory charts and found out that the moon (nearly full) would be rising at 4:30 PM today. So I drove part way up a mountain where I thought I would get a good view. Two and-a half hours later, I got a glimpse of it as it came out...

    Santa Claus

This was posted on FB by a friend of a friend . . . no exif data or who took this, but I think it's priceless. I just had to share this in case any of you hadn't seen it.

    What car(s) do you drive?

1954 "buckboard" to match my house (see weekly challenge). . . 2 hp . . . 1-5 mph in 20 minutes . . . great sunroof and air conditioning . . . occasional problems with exhaust fumes. Sorry, gang! I just couldn't resist. . . so many pretty and fast cars posted! I actually drive a flame red...

    Continuous Lighting

Has anyone out there purchased this product (800w continuous red head halogen light) from LinkDelight? It looks like a pretty good price and I'm wanting to experiment with some continuous lighting in my portraits. What I don't want is to burn my (or somebody else's house) down because the bulb...

    Weekly Challenge Dec 8-15: Degeneration

I was finishing this up in an 8th grade classroom with some of the kids looking over my shoulder. The boys liked this BW version much better than the color. The girls thought this was "creepy" . . . like something was going to show up in the window. Don't know if it's a commentary on my photo...

What is the most important criterion?

I think you kind of make my point so I'm not sure that this is exactly a "disagree". Most photos/images have a subject --it's what we're photographing, so we may be comparing apples and oranges. It's what the photographer does with the subject that creates the impact. Photojournalistic images...

Twelve Elements of a Merit Image

Twelve elements have been defined as necessary for the success of an art piece or image. Any image, art piece or photograph will reveal some measure of all twelve elements, while a visually superior example will reveal obvious consideration of each one. They are: Impact is the sense one gets...

    Shooting Church Stained Glass HELP!!!

I completely agree with Eduard. Below is a shot of a church window which I processed in HDR because I wanted trees outside and the beautiful blue wall inside. Even if you think you don't want to do hdr, shoot (auto bracket) as if you would. I strongly believe in NEVER limiting your options. Let...
