    Twitter

Does anybody out there use twitter in a business sense? Follow, unfollow, retweet. I'm not sure what the benefit is, except I sometimes find an interesting link within the tweet. Would love to hear if and how the rest of you use it, if at all. Best Regards

    Australia Cyclone

I know we have Australian members on the forum and was wondering how you all are doing there . . . anybody in the path of the cyclone?? Well, I guess if you are, you won't be online (Duh!). In any case, we hope the weather settles down some for you. Stay safe. Best Regards

    Carolina Photo Guy

Pete has asked me to pass on a big 'hello" to all his friends on Nikonites. He misses you. He also would like you to have a link to his e-book on lighthouses --superb photos and well-written in typical "Pete style" :-) PM me for the link. He took a photo today (first time in almost 2 weeks) so...

    Abandoned Building

Well, I almost blew it and posted this to the weekly challenge until I realized the date was wrong. I dinked around with this photo for 3 days and have lost perspective by now. Would appreciate your feedback --what you like, don't like, and if it gives you any kind of "feeling". Exif data...

    Refurbished Lenses

I'm curious to know what's involved in "refurbishing a lens". Is it all taken apart and cleaned, or what else? When would you know if one of your lenses needed to be refurbished? If there were not much difference in price, am I better off buying a "manufacturer (Nikon)refurbished" lens or a...

    HDR Book

I just received my copy of The Complete Guide to HDR Digital Photography by Ferrell McCollough. I'm about halfway through it and am so excited because it has answered so many nagging questions for me about the process. I highly recommend this book to any HDR fans! Best Regards

    Building Night Life

I took enough shots last night to play around with some HDR editing. Comments greatly appreciated (I'm trying to stretch myself photographically . . . night photos and buildings are a weak area for me) Best Regards

    D and non-D lenses

Need some help here. I understand the difference between the G and D lenses. But what is the difference between the D and non-D AF lenses. I have noticed on ebay that if a nikon lens is not labeled as a D, it usually sells for at least $100 less. Also, does anyone use an AF non-D and non-G...

    Fingerless Gloves

Anybody out there use them for taking photos outdoors? Are they helpful and manageable and do you have a source? I think I got everything else covered but my fingers get so cold I'm afraid they'll freeze to the tripod! Don't want to be just a "fair-weather photographer" Best Regards

    Brothers

To help the nearly exasperated dad, I promised these two boys that they could pose any way they wanted for the next pic -- mom and dad were doing most of the "directing" of the kids. This is the pose they selected, and I try to keep my promises :-) Would like to know what you think?

    BW Tree

I've been playing around with HDR Efex pro before the trial expires to see if it's really worth the bucks. Some nice presets are included. Too punchy, not punchy enough? Feedback welcome and appreciated.

    Help With Sunsets

I may have hit a plateau in my learning curve and could use a nudge or push. Here’s what I like about the photo below: composition and sunset colors. What I think could be better is the mountain and foreground shadow detail I’m not sure if it’s an initial capture issue or a post processing...

    Santa Claus

This was posted on FB by a friend of a friend . . . no exif data or who took this, but I think it's priceless. I just had to share this in case any of you hadn't seen it.

    Continuous Lighting

Has anyone out there purchased this product (800w continuous red head halogen light) from LinkDelight? It looks like a pretty good price and I'm wanting to experiment with some continuous lighting in my portraits. What I don't want is to burn my (or somebody else's house) down because the bulb...

Twelve Elements of a Merit Image

Twelve elements have been defined as necessary for the success of an art piece or image. Any image, art piece or photograph will reveal some measure of all twelve elements, while a visually superior example will reveal obvious consideration of each one. They are: Impact is the sense one gets...

    NIK HDR Software

I got a notice from Nik Software that their new HDR software is available for download and purchase. Has anybody already tried it out yet. I'm interested in knowing how it compares to Photomatix. (I know there's a trial, but it's only 15 days and I haven't shot anything for HDR lately) Best...

CAPTION WANTED: photos that tell a story

Anybody want to try their hand at writing a caption for this? I'll take the winner to dinner . . .(of course, winner will have to come to New Mexico!)

    White Sands. . .again

I started from scratch with the black and whites of white sands, used more Nik software rather than lightroom for the noise. Critique would be appreciated. Best Regards
