    Flood and Fire

We seem to have both going on on both coasts . . . all you So. Cal folks clear of the fire? How about the flooding in the South? Everybody safe? Keep us posted. I guess all we need is famine, and we'll be in the "apacolypse" . . . sigh

    "Voyeur" Photographer Lawsuit

Before this thread derails completely, I just want to let everyone know that I enjoyed the spirited discussion, the viewpoints and the humor! Thank you to all the "educated minds!" ("appropriated" from somewhere on the internet . . . Aristotle's words but photo????. . . sorry)

    "Voyeur" Photographer Lawsuit

I know the original story was posted somewhere here. Remember the photographer in New York who took photos of his neighbors through their windows and created an exhibit? He was sued by the neighbors, and won, based on the First amendment. Judge Dismisses Privacy Lawsuit Against "Voyeur"...

Need Help from the "Gadget Gurus"

While I feel pretty comfortable with Nikon's CLS, I thought I'd pull out my pocketwizards and see what I was missing. I have the Pocketwizard Multimax and a Pocketwizard Plus II. I'm trying to figure out what exactly I can do with them (that I can't with the SB900's, SU-800 and D2x) I spent...

Another myth to debunk about Canada

One of the best things about us is that we can still laugh at ourselves . . . It's when we lose our sense of humor that things go "south" (BTW, I'm very proud of how nicely you "boys" are playing. Thank you) Change some of the items in the above and it could be anywhere . . . whackos are...

    Pregnant lady

I think this is in line with the discussion. Here's an example of how I used the "ethereal effect" to "salvage a mistake" (quick, on the fly capture in midday sun and too far to use fill in flash) and brighten a picture that needed brightening. The before and the after, processed with layer...

    Helene's " Kritter Korner"

I went out to the pasture to photograph the horses, so had my telephoto lens on the camera. The horses decided they wanted to follow me and check out the camera, so I couldn't get far enough away to get a good shot of them. This little guy was scurrying around . . . well, not exactly little...

    Marilynne's Wetlands and Other Stuff

I have a wonderful friend who sends me emails with collections of fabulous photos, some that seem to have been around for quite awhile and not all with copyright or photographer info (unfortunately). . . this one seems appropriate to share here.

    Helene's " Kritter Korner"

My Sweet Girl, "Meggie" Rescued her 5 years ago from idiots who had her tied up for the first 6 months of her life and were going to poison her because she was "worthless". She's bright, devoted and I consider myself lucky to have her in my life. If you know anything about "clicker training"...

    Shutter Click count

Bill, if you use photoshop, you can simply open the file info (advanced tab) and read the count there. I think the "tougher" or more pro the camera, the higher the shutter count life; e.g. the D3 is 300,000. Everything else is lower. I'm guessing that's one reason that cameras a refurbished ...

    nz black robin

With wildlife, it's hard to improve the capture. A lot of times you just have to take what you can get; however, good or creative post-processing goes a long way. You, the photographer, can still do a better job post-processing than your camera.

Why unedited? You have some nice possibilities in these if you play around a little with the post processing.
