    Macro Lens Help

That will become two different animals for you. Flowers usually stay still unless the wind is blowing. On flowers you can set up on a tripod and light from a different angle. Insects move, they move a lot. You cannot usually count on a tripod shot and you won't be able to get real close...

My bird shots are just horrible! I need some help!

And it allowed me to get this photo good enough that I added some better sky, to the background, from another image. I actually like this photo now. Before: After:

My bird shots are just horrible! I need some help!

Wow, I am loving the LightRoom! I was going to toss this image in the trash can. LightRoom transformed this photo completely. Not the best I could do but now it is useable. Actually I don't think it is that bad now! This image was terribly fuzzy at the edges where it needed to be sharp...

    Which Lightroom for Windows XP?

Just spent and hour and 20 minutes downloading LR 5 Trial version. Did not read the system requirements and it won't install because I have Windows XP instead of Windows 7 or higher. Are there free trials of the older version software anywhere?

My first digital prints from a DSLR

I ran down to CVS Pharmacy to use their quick print kiosk. I have never printed any of my photos and I wanted to get a feel for how they look in print. I chose four images to print and all of them looked pretty much exactly like what I see on my monitor. Only one had a warmer tint where the...

Mike D90's "Birds in Flight" Learning Thread

And here are two that show how grainy some of these were. I used LightZone and it helped with lifting that shadows a lot but nothing helped the graininess.

Mike D90's "Birds in Flight" Learning Thread

Another beauty of a day with lots of good sunshine. However, I believe I did not do as well today as I did yesterday. I changed to Single Point AF and used AF-C continuous focus. That helped a lot. I set aperture priority at f/8 and f/11 on these shots with only one of my shots today at...

Here is the best of the pathetic Hawk shots. I was greatly disappointed in these. I thought they would be really nice.

Mike D90's "Birds in Flight" Learning Thread

Finally got a beautiful sun filled morning today. I took this opportunity to get some BIF shots and I was very lucky to have Egrets, Buzzards and Hawks all available today! While I did better than I expected I would my shots leave a lot lacking. They look great as small photos but when I...

    Local Birding/Nature Trails

I did some Google searching and found we have quite a few nature/birding trails all very close to me here in the Tallahassee area of Florida. So I will be heading out to some of them soon to get some new meat to shoot. Oh, there is one of these parks where the workers will put up life-like...

    Post your latest purchases.

Got the 70-300mm VR lens. Used but its nice and clean. Purchased it from Rokas Photo & Video out of California. They seem to be excellent folk to deal with.

Another and probably last shot of the Titmouse. I am going other places to look for birds.

    Post your flower pics

Today was such a let down with the weather. All I managed was a couple of flower shots and these were not too good. Lots of stiff wind probably led to them being too soft.

My bird shots are just horrible! I need some help!

Well, lets see if this is any improvement. I am now using the 70-300mm VR lens that arrived today. Quickly I set out to my spot to shoot a few of the regulars at the feeders. Light is still an issue as we can't seem to shake the cloudy over cast. These are definitely better than before. I...

Tranquility Base . . . . The Eagle has landed.

Well, maybe not that spectacular but the 70-300mm VR ED lens is now in my hands! It arrived this afternoon as I sat outside watching for the mail carrier with my binoculars. :emmersed: Man, this thing is a beast. I wasn't expecting it to be this heavy. That is not an issue for me but it is...

    Pets/"Petography" Thread!

Not my best attempt. This was just a quick one handed shot of my little baby. Her name is Chitlin' and she is not quite a year old now. She was a kitten of a litter of five. She came up missing one day and three days later I heard her loudly meowing (almost yelling) from under my house. She...
