    Street photography in low light

    I think you answered your question yourself, partially at least. But you do not HAVE to restrict yourself to "manual mode" - quite on the contrary - fully manual mode might slow you down, especially when taking photos in the streets, light being low or not. Consider different options of AF...

    nidding's first year of shooting - 365 2014

    Re: nidding's first year of shooting Welcome to another year of your photographing, rocker! You don't have to excuse yourself for not going out lately (just don't drink too much coke - remember the orthophosphoric acid;)) This is how I celebrated the successful repair of one of my lenses:

    Is my Nikon D90 defective? LCD Picture zoom. Weird Spider Webbing thing.

    "Newton's rings", often caused by two transparent surfaces, especially if moisturized, touching each other... Could be a result of a dropped camera, or the excessive pressure being applied to a LCD... Nothing to do with the low pass filter.

    Reflections...

    Nice photo. Needs a bit of cropping and straightening of the horizon (0.5 degrees counterclockwise).

    Whiskeyman's Shot-A-Day 2014

    Sandhill Cranes are beautiful birds, and these photos confirm it. I would just crop the first one, to avoid those dark patches on the top, straighten the horizon (counter-clockwise) and add a little blur to the bottom.

    35mm -> 70-210mm lens

    To cut the long story short: the ideal replacement (in terms of the viewing angles) would be 50-140mm (as suggested by @hark@). Now, the lens that *almost* fully covers this range (and has the ability to go "wider" if and when needed) is 18-135mm. And it is not expensive...Nikon 18-135MM Lens | eBay

    Chimp

    Yes, I agree - that's why I made it WITHOUT a border (one post back). My opinion is this: if we remove ALL that surrounds the animal, it'll be "the chimp in the middle of the nowhere". That's why I left the green poles on the left-hand side and behind the chimp, and those (but heavily blurred)...

    Photo Trade Fair Belgrade (Foto Berza).

    In Belgrade, Serbia, this year's last Photo Trade Fair has been held today, from 10 AM to 04 PM (local time). It's been a pleasure to see a few thousand lenses and camera bodies, tons of assorted pieces of equipment...all put on a few tables within a venue that measures not more than 150 square...

    Greetings from Serbia (Southeastern Europe)!

    Hi to all the Nikonites! I've been involved in photography for almost 40 years now, as a hobbyist, had a few analog (35mm film) Nikons way back then (the good old, venerable ''F'', among the others) ... Recently I purchased my first DSLR - D5100 with a few lenses. My sec camera (now) is a PEN...
