Fledgling House Sparrow

Fairly confident this is a meadow pippit.

This is much tougher than I thought it would be and I knew it wasn't going to be easy. After a long time trying these are my two best efforts. Will try again on a cooler day I think and with a sharper lens.

I never thought I'd get a shot of a wild bird like this with a 55mm lens. This little guy hasn't learnt to fear people yet. The shot is uncropped and I got even closer than this.

I was very lucky this morning with a juvenile Jackdaw in my garden. This image is uncropped and shot at 55mm! This is a wild Jackdaw but it showed no fear whatsoever. It could fly and feed but did look to have a swollen foot and it carried its wing awkwardly at times, but that doesn't account...

Went to a Go Ape style tree climbing day, thought about taking my DSLR up but was a bit risky and probably not allowed, so my phone had to make do instead.

I don't take many shots on my phone as the camera isn't great as far as phone cameras go. This one turned out quite well though I think, it is the Baltic art gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne. I think I only had my 70-300mm with me so my phone was the only option to get the shot.

I really don't like photoshop or elements, Lightroom was so much more intuitive to me. I know I will improve with them but at the end of the month free trial I know which programme I'll be choosing. Anyway this Curlew was edited in Photoshop and I have no idea if I've got the best out of it.

I used a canon with that feature to press a button to zoom out to find the subject, it was very handy. My problem is I need something longer than my 70-300mm but my main option for the D7100 are going to take some time to save for. Last night I went to see some short eared owls with a friend...

Went out to see some Short Eared Owls this evening. I've only seen them once in the wild before, so although I couldn't get all that close I'm happy to have captured this one on camera. My trial of Lightroom has ended and this is my first attempt using Photoshop. So far I don't like it nearly...

I got a lot more keepers in May than usual and it was my first month with the "Primal Beast" which I'm sure helped. I don't shoot many landscapes generally so withthatin mind this one is my pick for May.

A few shots from a couple of walks over the hill at the back of my house.

My wife took this shot of me whilst Iwas busy snapping away, I had no idea she was behind me. She's not been using a DSLR for long at all so I was quite impressed when I saw this shot.

I was going to post "My crazy Spaniel" but after seeing the picture above I don't think he looks so crazy. He does pull a similar face to that ^ when he's chasing a ball.

I'll try again, this one should be 1000px on the long edge. I'm clearly doing something wrong here as the forum keeps resizing them.

I've not read the full thread yet but am just posting these to check for myself. The first was exported at 1000px on the shortest side and the second at 1024px on the longest side, which is how I normally set them for posting here. Well they look exactly the same to me.
