    Robin's Life Birds

They have a burrowing owl at a local raptor rescue center here. Whenever they bring him out of the carrier at demonstrations, it always elicits an "aawwwhh" from the crowd. They are small. And cute.

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Wanted to go out shooting today, but between a cold/allergies/sinus infection and heavy rain most of the morning and early afternoon, that wasn't happening. At a break in the rain I went outside to see what was going on in the yard, and managed to get a decent shot of one of the miscreants that...

    Thoughts wanted.

When you reshoot, you might want to consider bracketing and then stack then into an HDR.

    Thoughts wanted.

I would have left more of the foreground than your crop. Of course, I'm in the (usually) put the horizon on a third guy. In this case I think the extra foreground balances better. In my mind the real star here should be the sky. I would try and bring out more warm color in the rising sun. I...

Post your photo gear you got for Christmas

I got a K&F Concepts ball head. I really like my gimbal head for birds and wildlife, bit it's not much good for macro or landscapes. I wasn't a big fan of the head on my old Bogen (Manfrotto) tripod, and really wanted something with an arca swiss style plate. I had a little talk with Santa a...

    Replacement question

IMO, if you have no equipment right now, going mirrorless is a no brainer. Which body to get really depends on your wants, and your wallet. If money is no object, go for the Z8, or Z9. If most of your shooting does not require the latest, greatest auto focus, the Z7ii might be a candidate. It is...

Solved: S9900 remote shutter release options

Yes, if you are shooting changing subjects, the timer method doesn't work. It's more for landscapes and other non moving subjects. And this might be where the WMU may be the best option for you, if you can't see the subject. The app will display what your camera sees on your phone, even if you...

Solved: S9900 remote shutter release options

If all you are looking for is minimizing vibration on a tripod, just use the timer. Set it for the shortest time and hit the shutter, then take your hand off the camera. By the time it counts down the vibration should be gone and it will trip the shutter. Try the WMU and see if it suits you.

Solved: S9900 remote shutter release options

Glad it worked for you. I found that a cheap wired remote did everything I needed without going through the setup routine of Snapbridge. Of course, I don't really need to have any distance between myself and the camera, and don't need to remotely see what the camera is seeing at the time. I can...

Solved: S9900 remote shutter release options

I have no personal experience with this camera, but I have connected several of my DSLR and Z cameras using snapbridge. I don't think the S9900 has bluetooth capability, so you probably will have to using Nikon WMU app. Here is the link for the WMU for Android: Nikon WMU download And here is...

    Dominique’s old stones (mostly)

My wife used to do genealogy research, and it was amazing how many families lost so many children. Not uncommon for a family to lose several children within a week or two due to an illness going around. A lot of people romanticize about earlier times. I wouldn't want to have to do without...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

My buddy needed me to drive him up to Columbia. I dragged the Pup along with me and we visited the zoo. This is the first time I've been there since I've had my long lens and more experience with shooting wildlife. Not that you can necessarily tell from these, but they definitely look better to...

    Post Your Automotive Shots!

Local plantation/gardens had a special Christmas event. They invited the local Model A club again this year. Unfortunately, I didn't think to put my polarizing filter on until halfway through shooting. Had to do a sky replacement on a couple to balance out the sky.
